Yeah, bit on the nose... Not quite sure how I feel, but... even just the echoes from the past atrocities make me emotionally flinch... and that might be a good thing, despite how painful it is to recount. It's terrible what a handful of relevant people backed by a nation's worth of unrest can do to literally rearrange landscapes and lives over... we're almost 80 years in now? 80 years. Every japanese storytelling medium that mentions stuff like that screams subliminal messages to me that my ears can't hear, but the heart soaks up: "We haven't forgotten." "We don't get to forget." "We are *still* affected." "We as a people are still coping from the tragedy that happened to us." "We won't let the world forget either." "We're still here. And we're still hurting." WW2 was not some big fanfare of good guys versus bad guys. Every country involved has skeletons in their closets concerning their involvement or lack thereof (pull out games... 😬) But what the USA did... those bombs... those cities... family lines ended... Food stores vaporized... schools at/near ground zero... gone... millions upon millions of regular citizens devastated... generations of fallout and radiation sicknesses... Japan did right fighting back with media through storytelling. Not just fighting the culprits of their pain, but also all the anger, sadness, depression, nihilism, and hopelessness that must be coped with during an event like that. .... Anywho, that's my thought train every time some kind of historical/political something shows up in anime. Have fun with that. Note: term "rearrange" used as a facetious word choice.

For people who'd wonder, there isn't any similarity with Ramayan in this anime, except the part that Ravan kidnapped the wife of Shree Ram(the king), there is no curse, no anger, no evilness, he has been kind and humble to everyone, even gave so many proposals to Ravan to release his wife, and to prevent war, but Ravan declined every time and eventually got killed in the war with his entire clan, Shree Ram is revered as the incarnation of Bhagwan Vishnu and revered by billions of people. I don't understand what's the point of taking reference of Ramayan into this.

That's Ramayan, it's very popular since ancient times, you can find ancient literature about it in different languages in different countries primarily in South and South East Asian countries like India, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, it's even popular in South Korea and Japan almost everyone knows about it in South and South East Asia, obviously the story has nothing to do with it, there isn't any curse, and Shree Ram (the King) was humble and kind.

For those who argue that lores from every civilization has been used, here is the difference.
