Thanks for the review! I've had this trainer since late 2019. I'm generally happy with it although began to have problems with it in the last 6-7 months. I found it overly noisy in the big ring at any speed and this has got worse over time. More recently the trainer began to not be able to handle any gradient over 5% in the big ring. It would grind and become very choppy unless I found an easy gear in the small ring. This isn't bad gear choice as I often do power climbs in the big ring. There was also a squeaking noise when I was out of the saddle. Anyway, I spoke to Elite and they said the 'tooth ring', which is behind the freehub and I believe dicates the smoothness of the flywheel, needed replacing and sent me spare parts to do this. However, this proved difficult- it needed a hammer and wrench and just wasn't user friendly, so finally Elite have agreed to take the trainer and repair it. Thank god. Hopefully it will be restored to it's original quality, which was pretty damn good for the price.

Thanks for sharing your experience with Elite Suito, I had Kickr Snap for few weeks then returned it and changed it to Kickr Gen4, hoping that it had better "road feel" being the high end model. But I was really disappointed, for me the feel was worse than wheel-on-trainer Kickr Snap, it required tremendous effort to crank up which I can do easily on real road. I decided to return Kickr Gen4 after trying it for 3 wks, I just hated stomping down the pedal feel with Kickr. Anyway, I was lucky to place an order for Suito earlier today. In Europe, turbo trainers are sold out everywhere. And when they are re-stocked they get sold out almost immediately. It will take a day or two until I receive the Suito, but watching your review I think I will definitely like Suito more compared to Kickr. Will share my experience later then. Cheers

@Cat3ForLife3 жыл бұрын
Have you lubed the cassette? Also, some bikes need to have their chain line adjusted when put on a trainer. Mine does. I need to move my rear derailleur inboard about 1mm. If you have a barrel adjuster for your rear mech, try moving the mech inwards a little. The old defect was a loud clunking sound. If it's not that, then it's what I describe. Cheers.

@@phil121986 yeah, that's definitely that the rear derailleur needs to be trimmed. Essentially, the chain is rubbing the cassette. First, try putting some wet lube directly on the cassette. Don't go crazy with it. Then, if that doesn't make it a lot better, try trimming your rear derailleur. 1 half turn of the barrel adjuster should do the trick. I have to trim mine every time I put it on the trainer, but I've had to do that on every direct drive trainer.

Hi. I have this trainer and I am a bit confused about the spindown calibration values. At first the number it showed was 10800, a few weeks later 11300 and then 11800. The difference is as big as 10% which made me wondering how the trainer interprets that number. Will the resistance applied to the flywheel change linearly with that value? (i.e. was the power off by 5% before the calibration that adjusted that value by 5%). I am not sure whether it's even a good idea to show that number to the user without explaining what it means.
@Cat3ForLife3 жыл бұрын
The good news is, apparently this trainer auto adjusts once calibrated. I've seen this to be true since I frequently compare the trainer data against my quarq and they're pretty bang on identical. Personally, I wouldn't spin down more than once a month on these and even that shouldn't be necessary. As for what the values mean, each power meter manufacturer shares their "zero offset" values differently. I don't know what each of their respective values mean honestly.

@@Cat3ForLife the desktop app worked fine now for calibration. Target speed was 34km/h. BUT the off the charts resistance got solved another way because I googled the hell out of it....The issue happened because my Wahoo Bolt paired with the trainer. @Cat3ForLife2 жыл бұрын
It's not uncommon for direct-drive trainers to be ever-so-slightly "off" of alignment and to require a little microadjustment of the rear derailleur. I find that, on at least 1 of my bikes, I have to adjust by 1mm (easy to measure since it uses ETAP and one micro-shift is .2mm and I do 5 microshifts. That being said, also check to make sure your rear mech hanger is properly aligned and that the rear limit screws are set well. If it's dropping like that, my guess is it's off just enough to mess with you on the trainer but not enough to mess with you when you're on the road. However, that problem only ever gets worse and you definitely don't want that to happen on the road.

You may find that your chain is too long and you may have to get a matching cassette for the trainer. If so, it's pretty easy to swap the cassette if you have the right tool. If not, a bike shop can do it in less than 3 minutes.

@@Cat3ForLife Wow...that was a quick reply. Thanks! It will be obvious if the chain is too long?

@@tswan222 yup. It will sag and your rear derailleur will be slack. And you got me when I had my phone in my hand, hence the lightning fast replies. :-)

great review thanks! I have a 11-30 cassette on my bike, do I need to worry about my chain being too long when using this trainer?

I just came from your other video of your first review of this machine. I just bought it today - I sold my old bike and buying a new one. Can you please tell me the things my new bike must have to be compatible with this specific machine? I know lots of people who buy 12mm thru axles the day they get their trainer. I’d like to be all ready day 1 (if possible) thanks for your time. And video!

Sure thing! If your new bike is 12 speed (etap AXS or Campy), you'll need the appropriate adapter (XDR) and a cassette. Otherwise, if you're 11 speed, you're good to go out of the box. The trainer can accommodate both thru axle and quick release and has the appropriate adapters in the box.

@@Cat3ForLife awesome! And it is also compatible with the KICKR CLIMB? or with this trainer it is simply the block for the front wheel that can be used?
@zacharyerskine42773 жыл бұрын
actually now I am reading because it offers up to 15% gradient on its own and kicks in automatically, the trainer by itself should be superior to having the KICKR climb attached onto the front of the bike for an additional nearly $1,000 (or I may be wrong on this)
@Cat3ForLife3 жыл бұрын
@@zacharyerskine4277 that's actually different. All smart trainers offer resistance feel, but the climb actually raises the front of your bike. Elite says it's not compatible but I think that is so they can sell their own front wheel accessory.

Such a huge step up from wheel on trainers and takes up less space, does not destroy tires, especially expensive tires running with sealant, love how much less wear and tare on the bike. All metal is awesome, so tired of cheesy plastic builds.

*********************Summary***************** lightweight fly wheel 15% grade max, 2.5% accuracy bad: elite app terrible, non ergonomic handle lol Good: lighter than other directs, very portable, super sleek, less rolling acceleration lag, very accurate, easy assembly, maybe good or bad, very fast reaction to changes in gradient
