I've had both and agree with all points. From my experience. My Cane Corso was way more reactive and easy to trigger, especially by humans. My Boerboel was way more mellow and relaxed. Only came into action when needed. Was really a great dog. If the neighbor was working in his garden he would just look instead of barking like a maniac. My Cane Corso would want to eat him alive. The boerboel would know who is trouble and who is not very easily.

Our boerboel would get regularly bombarded with 20-30 young children who wanted to meet him when he was just 3-12 months old. He is calm and super gentle with little kids. He's not aggressive at all - unless you mean trouble and then - fire! Easy to train, loyal, playful and a superb family dog. Love the breed. My next dog will also be a boerboel.

I’m a disabled veteran, I have a female Boerboel. She is one of the best dogs that I’ve ever had. She is very smart, and a great family member. When my granddaughter visits she is always looking out for her. All she wants is a little love and for this she is ready to do what she does best , a true guardian .

I own a young male boerboel. Even he is just 10 months old he is already territorial to visitors at the gate. When we are out in public he has no problems with other people or other dog's. With the kid's of our friends, 4 and 7 years old, he is just nice and even let's them run around with his leash without a pull or anything. Just a gentleman.

Boerboels are similar to the corso but are the step better in many ways. People may think that the corso is intimidating by its looks but when you see the muscle and head size of a boerboel theres no doubt which one i be more reluctant to approach. Boerboels are better in the house too even though corsos are also great the boerboel has alot more chilled out personality. Swiches on when it needs to. Corsos dont switch off much. Both very loving dogs though but definitely bond more with a boerboel.

But it appears I'll be choosing a Boerboel as the perfect dog for MY situation. I really enjoyed your video. I live just outside of LA and have a almost 4 year old Boerboel male. I have had dogs all my life and they have mostly been Dalmatians. After mine had passed a rescue I had worked with knew I was looking for a larger dog and possibly a Great Dane. They called me and said they had a 6 month old Cane Corso that had rapidly outgrown the apartment the owners had. So I took him and his name was Max which fits him. But he was so strong and stubborn, I knew I needed help training him so I took him to a rather well known training center here. Because of my job and I had him stay with them for 3 weeks and they were wonderful. But on day one they advised me that Max was a faun colored Boerboel and not a Corso. They in fact breed Borecole's for celebrity clients. It is the first time I had to get help training a dog and Max is the most loyal and lovable dog I have ever had and he clocks in at about 150 pounds. I have about 1 acre of fenced horse property and he loves it and loves watching and even going nose to nose with my neighbors horses. I have also never had such a protective dog before. Once someone tried to break in and Max was gone in a flash from my bedroom and probably gave the criminal a heart attack when he rounded the corner into the entry of the house where the crook slammed the door and ran. Anyway that is my story and I love my Boerboel and will forever be hooked.

Thank you for this important information! I have a 4 month old Boerboel and have him enrolled in puppy classes once a week. I will continue to have him trained from various other places and Trainor's. I believe it is necessary to protect my puppy by having training consistently. I don't need protection training for him because he was already protecting at 3 months. He is a hard dog and challenges me daily. He will be going to puppy camp for training as well for that. I truly love and care about my boy and want to make sure he will always be an excellent canine citizen. He was 70 lbs. last week and he's four months old so he has to be on his best behavior at all times. Right now he can be a real handful and comes back at me but I'm determined because I want the best for him and want him to be my best friend.

I have both breeds right now and agree the boeboel is the one I prefer overall. I love them both but for all the factors you mentioned my boerboel scores the highest on intimidation, family protection, and super loving with all of the family. We took our boerboel for training while our cane corso was so good to train ourselves home. we got both from when they were little pups.

Lady you got yourself one of thhe best if not the best breeds in the world. I've had a few but since I got a boerboel she's turning 11 this month, I ain't going back! The biting will eventually stop/reduce after 6-7months but also it's a combination of teething & how they play....they are super intelligent just be patient & train your dog as to what you like or don't like especially after 12 weeks. Mine was already barking, guarding the yard at 3months old without training for that😂

I have a 7 months old female Cane Corso, with a little bit of Labrador in there. My favorite breed is the Boerboel though... but it's just too big when traveling in my campervan. Also I think if I would travel with a Boerboel nobody would dare to come by and say hi 😂 My Cane Corso has her ears and tail intact so not crazy intimidating like a Boerboel.

Owning both the big difference I see between my tw0 boys are the boerboel is much more chilled out the cane Corso is more reactive. Our boerboel is a bed ornament not very active but when the s*#$t hits the fan that big docile giant kicks into hi gear . Where as my cane Corso is always busy and is on guard dog mode 24/7

Another great video rui ! One question I’m very curious about is bite strength. I’m aware that the internet can be very misleading with this thing called “bite force “ lol some corso enthusiasts suggest that the corso has somewhere in the 700s lol . Even though I find bite force pressure to be very hard to measure , depends on a number of things but I don’t really care .. I understand large protection breeds such as the boerbol and corso will have very strong bites .. I just can come across any professional trainers on the internet that can compare the two bites lol but again rui another great video keep them coming brother ! I think you are talking about Corso’s in America, in Europe we don’t have so many aggressive Corso’s. They should be calm and confident and not nervous. They also tend to be smaller and more athletic in Europe. I have 2 Corso’s and my male is bang on 50kg. Both my dogs are amazing with kids

I like the Cane Corso but the problem is they all look different to me you see boxer, Rottweiler, or English Mastiff, or Terrier, looks. It seems your taking a risk on getting the type that you want as far as looks or build.. If anyone knows a good breeder please feel free to let me know

Cane Corso is illegal here so I can't compare, but Boerboels are pretty much considered family dogs in South Africa. While they are used as guard dogs, I've never been to anyone's house who have boerboels and felt in any way threatened or intimidated. The biggest problem with boerboels imho is that they are clumsy and don't know how big they are so they tend to accidentally bump you over and for some reason they always want to sit against people's legs and on their feet. The amount of times I've had numb feet from boerboel butts is insane. 😂 They tend to bugger up furniture and fences for this same reason. Always resting their big burly bodies against something not knowing how much they weigh.

I have a boerboel cane corso with the best traits from both dogs. He is great with kids couldnt care less if people just walk in the house no matter the time.. Lol. He looks scary but is very gentle. We tested his reactions when it comes to violence.. He doesn't like it and puts a stop to any rough play gently. He gets in between and pushes you away lol. We have young kids and he is only a year old. The best most well behaved dog i have ever had. Fully recommend 10/10

Never had CaneCorso as could never find a reputable breeder is South Africa and can not afford to import one but love the breed. They are so similar in almost every way to Boerboel. My only dispute with this is Boerboel and children, they are good with babies and teenagers, but children 9 to 12 need to be watched with Boerboels as Boerboels get excited and can accidently harm these kids. Very nice, balanced and accurate opinion and no mention of nonsense like Biteforce which is not scientific accurate.

I love both breeds but have never owned either. I currently have two German shepherds but have always wanted a mastiff breed and these two are pretty much who I am down to. Which of the two (if either) would be a better fit to live with other dogs and in particular high energy dogs like a German shepherd.

Both Cane Corso and Boerboel would be fine with Alsatians. Only issue is the play style for Mastiff breeds when adult is very heavy duty body slamming which may not be enjoyable for non mastiff type breeds.

I have 2 males boerboel and cane Corso it is possible but it's not easy you have to keep an eye on in the puppie stages as there personally clashes example boerboels are much more chill they just want to relax where as the cane Corso is very busy so it might start a fight or two when the one wants to chill but gets overwhelmed with playtime by the other . Also they both alpha breeds and from experience with my two you have to be a strong alpha leader yourself other wish it would cause tension between the two to gun for top dog and if you can't control that then it's a blood bath trust me you don't want to see two 75Kg+ mastiffs going at each other it not pretty

True story when we were stationed in Panama we lived in Quarry Heights we had a female English Mastiff we found out that almost every house around us was broken in at one point in time but never once was our house hit. As a South African i can only talk from experience ! Some Boerboels are incredibly aggressive! It will differ from breeders ! Some breeders breed extremely docile Boerboels ! Other more aggresive ! The reason I chose a Cane Corso is just this fact ! I do not wish my family or friends to be attacked ! I love Boerboels but it will be difficult to know what temperament of Boerboel you can expect ! Some are really way to aggressive! Cane Corso is most definitely be a more stable family member !
