You young HVAC/R guys have it easy. You have the internet library on your phone to help with anything that stumps you. Every call, I had to pull a solution from out of my butt! More power to all my younger brothers in the trade!

I found this true in both propriety field systems in all refrigeration systems and mass produced package systems over my 50 years in the trade.

Always keep in mind, every system leaks. This includes hermetically sealed system. That's molecular seepage. It actually goes through solid copper but it takes decades before the system is affected by low charge condition and you get called. What you have to deal with is keeping the leak rate as low as possible.

I was old school and kept a list on any system I had to top off once.

Leak detectors point you to the general vicinity of the leak. The best leak detector is good old fashioned soap bubbles.

ALL of us in the trade fight against just one thing. Chaos . It's a fools errand.

Nice

I never considered a system leaking if it could go 2 years or 24 months between topping off the charge. Less than that, you have to take the time to find and repair the leak(s).

For you younger guy, would you reccomend the inficon Dtek?
@WWHVAC18 сағат бұрын
Dtek is a great detector. It's the first one I used but my company paid for it. I would recommend the Elitech ILD-100H or ILD-300 if paying out of pocket

I used a GE electronic then Tif then CPS. During the beginning of my apprentice days I used a halide detector. That's some OLD SCHOOL!

When I began, methyl chloride and SO2 were getting phased out. I retired back when POE oil and 134a and Hotshot began. It never ends. Had a 30 pound unopened tank of 502! Last time I checked 20 years ago,it was worth $1500 bucks.

Cut to the chase end is get rid of the wife, get a cat. Best pussy you will ever have. I adore my long hair black cat Molly. Her eyes change color from emerald green to dark gold depending on her mood. I try to keep them happy green. Her feral mom dropped her in front of my door. She was the size of a beetle, her eyes weren't opened yet and I had to bottle feed her.
