Two points of interest for me. 1) Doing all this work to set these things up would necessitate my naming rights for new stations and settlements as system architect. 2) Give system architects a special restricted access room in the main station within the system from which they can manage the system, similar to what we get on fleet carriers, but perhaps a bit more functional. The whole concept of colonization is definitely amazing and unique. I look forward to Beta-testing!

I think Helldivers 2 developed a neat system for naming your spaceships which doesn't let people troll the system but at the same time doesn't require the devs to moderate everything: you have a wide variety of words from which you can build up the name of your vessel.

One thing that may be beneficial is adding a system where the system architect can actually lose control of a system if they don't login for a long time. To prevent people from making a bunch of low quality systems everywhere then abandoning them. Maybe after say 3 months of not logging in the system can be claimed by someone else or something
@bunker1213Күн бұрын
Logging in is no guarantee that the player will continue to feed the system with goods and whatnot to add more station, ports etc. If it is indeed a monumental task to get one station going, I predict that most new systems will only have the primary station.
@alecturner072 күн бұрын
Sounds excellent and I adore that we will indeed be able to have full control over planetary base placement and orientation. One small plea if I may. When you performed the "bake in" process used to automatically place all the Odyssey settlements you included a rule that no two settlements could be closer than 250km. One of my favourite places in legacy Horizons was Wasat A 2 e where two planet ports were just 50km apart which meant we could race SRVs from one to the other. By including that rule you inadvertently prevented that kind of thing from happening. If you must have a minimum distance for surface placement during colonisation could you please reduce it significantly (maybe 10km or even less).

Nor does it give rewards or levels. What you build IS the reward and the game. But will this update give us so many options that we will be able to build something awesome? In all the games above you have A LOT of details, little things, mechanics and tools to go wild. If we do get that in Elite - then sure, we don't need anything else. But will we? Getting to where I want to build through daisy chaining would take longer than I will be alive to accomplish.
@HCforLife1Күн бұрын
I think that the perfect option would be to set up the limit to let's say 100-500 ly. The cost of colonisation would be based on number inhabited systems within set radius from potential colony - let's say the radius would be 300-600 ly. This would be cool as if we setup new colony - it would be very difficult to setup next ones further away if there are no many other systems in the radius. Which would be nearly impossible and would force more realistic expansion accounting for "supply rating". It would be realistic that you would need to have some supply chain to make sure that your colony can survive and grow

Yeah nice but how about some low hanging Quality of life improvements easy to implement? 1: Buff the Eagle with the same hardpoints and power plant as the Imperial Eagle. Make an Imperial Eagle Ship kit. Increase the power plant of the Viper MK III to 4. Increase the power coupling of the Viper MK IV to 4. 2: replace the grey dots in Odyssey gun sights with red or green ones (there is a good reason real world red dot sights use high contrast red instead low contrast grey) 3: add the advanced docking computer to the supercruise module 4: Make the autopilot already in the game for Apex Interstellar and Frontline Solution Shuttles an expensive ship module that also functions as advanced docking computer & supercruise assistent. 5: use the NPC Crew Avatars for Apex Interstellar and Frontline Solution Pilots to put the already existing NPC crew in the empty cockpit seats on player ships. 6: allow the removal of unwanted mods from Odyssey space suits and handheld weapons 7: allow the upgrading and modding on the flight suit so players can add improved sprint and night vision 8: allow players in telepresence multicrew to leave the ship for on foot gameplay. Spawn them back at their ships location after the multicrew session ends. 9: add diverse types of player fleetcarriers to the game. Some cheaper ones with less hangar bays and cargo (wells class carrier / rescue carrier / bulk freighter), some with less hangars and higher jump range (science / survey vessel), some with facilities to refine ores & scrap or create food. Use the megaships already in the game for that: Agricultural Vessel, Bulk Cargo Ship, Dredger, Science Vessel, Survey Vessel, Tanker, Tourist Ship. 10: use the fleet carrier as rescue ship instead the rescue ship megaship to increase the number of docking bays at rescue ship POIs 11: resize the Type 7 to make it a medium landing pad ship 12: add an instant action mode to the game that allows players to drop into a space conflict zone directly from a main menue server browser into open gamemode with a prebuild ship. This would make PVP much easier by removing travel and engineer grind and increasing player numbers for pvp. Use a tier system to unlock prebuild ships and a ticket system that increases the pain of loss for high value prebuild ships. Use the same or analog prebuilds as used for NPC ships.

it's not "grind" that's the issue The issue is RNG material gains, with RNG based "node salting" with only one specific use for each resource type (trade, ship-craft, engineering, rep) and it all feels just so disconnected/unreal. also the bigger-bore projectile weapons (cannons, rockets, missile) have abysmal ammo counts for a dominantly PvE (RNG-reset "RAS" until you find a node you like, zero point in travelling as a combat flier unless there's a community invasion event for the tag n bag of bounties) plus for some reason out ranks, bank accounts, clone? selves and space-legs aspects are perpetual but bounties are for some reason lost with your ship so one bad encounter and vast amounts of bounties simply disappear when they already have a limit on which area they can be handed in (so you shelve the combat ship for an explorer to hand in mainline bounties, then go back to the chosen rng-grind-spot and repeat the same scenarios over and over an dover again as outside of asteroids/cap-ships there's not really any space-objects to fight around no pirate asteroid bases, no scan-beacon ambushes, not even a lowly damaged-station attack/defend). Also the pre-order people get an easy to access one stop, decently priced shop for EVERY ship and module while everyone else has to go to third party apps to build out a ship piece by piece while the only "storage" available are parked-ships so changing a build is a PITA for presumably the majority of the player base at this point. Mitigating that somewhat would go a long way towards removing a P2W-feeling aspect of the game, the march to elite-rank is a remarkably slow one so a piecemeal unlocking per-rank would also be a viable/helpful option giving at least some sense of progression outside of mission availability (the worst way to make resources/credits verus simply reset-farming known high-pop spots)

Can you guys please give console players some new content and ships? There's still a huge player base on console. Being able to take on a titan in Sol would be a nice start just saying 🤔

"ship interior is not important" ... we all remember
@maciejlazur49662 күн бұрын
Personally, I do not care for ship interiors. It would be fun, yes, but Elite offers so much more than that..

I would love to do manual repairs inside a ship that doesn't cannibalize other modules. It would be fun in multi crew chaos too. Having a full crew on a large ship and the turret gunner being an engineer that can fix stuff or do temp buffs and more.

@@short_yeti2058 love the idea! micromanaging in Elite is one of it's best features, it would be cool to expand it even further like you said :D

@@maciejlazur4966 Personal taste can be said for a lot of optional game mechanics. I have a fleet carrier and I don't care for using it as a trading vessel, yet that has a whole system to track profit and you can manage buy/sell orders etc. Power Play is another example. There are deep systems and gameplay loops that have more of a reach to achieve. At least interiors with basic loops would be significantly more approachable. You can always bypass and load into your seat. Running across a large landing pad to enter a ship is already here so it's not like it's new to traverse distances if desired. Next level would be like a class 5 exobiology lab you can enter or access its systems from the cockpit menu. You get the physical experience if needed without it being mandatory.

@@maciejlazur4966imo ship interiors are useless if it won't come with some extra interactions. It will end up being just extra space you have to run through everytime you want to get in/leave the ship.

Fix the suit upgrade it's not working
@Vevvev82 күн бұрын
You mean the fact it splits the stolen and legally acquired goods together in the inventory, but not in the store UI, leading you not able to upgrade the suit despite having the items to upgrade the suit? If so, yeah it's annoying... I've stopped stealing stuff now because it makes inventory management a mess
@TechigaiКүн бұрын
I've never had enough goods to do personal upgrades so I didn't know it splits it. That's kind of horrible really.

@@Techigai It is... If you ever bite the bullet I recommend finding a good star port, and go down its list of missions only showing the materials given. Missions will give you all the ground materials you'll need for engineering your gear.

I love what you guys do but colonisation doesn’t interest me. Give us more plants maybe random animals, random wandering comets, asteroids or general space junk to check out would be good too

Wow so sophisticated a great man mechanic, but still no way to walk on to a ship...huh!
@mannyonaleash2222Күн бұрын
hmmm, walking on a ship, fun for an hour..then back to the actual game. And who wants to stuff around having to walk through your damn ship all the time to do things. waste of time.

The players will eventually destroy the whole thing, just the same as reality. The end.

Can we get something like a small survey/scout skimmer drone or ship pulse wave utilities for exobio exploration? Would be much nicer and faster than doing it just by foot or blind looking with the ship or SRV and/or potentially harmful third party software
