Glad it took twenty minutes to describe the two factor model. You do compound movements to get the athlete strong, and then they practice the sport. What a revolutionary

Amazing that the guy who has overcomplicated training more than anyone else over the last few years can come in and lecture people for overcomplicating training

I don't know, I've got my criticisms of Dr Mike, but all of his training recommendations seem to emphasize all the stuff we know works. Progressive overload, consistency, and diet. Any of the off the rails stuff he goes into he's been pretty explicit about saying it's stuff you can try but is not necessary.

@@GargarksI always see this reaction to this criticism from Mike fans. Yet whenever I watch RP content, it frankly couldn’t be further from the truth. Mike et al have been pushing this sort of overly complex, algorithm friendly, novel content for years. And the clarifications only seem to come when they’re pressed. If 99% of your content is you ranting and raving about the efficacy of novel, overly complex, precise and “optimal” (whatever that means according to the latest study of the day) training where every T is crossed and every i dotted, what message do you think the young impressionable lifter is going to pick up? Not to mention to constant use of “science” and the “literature” as both a method of plausible deniability when called out (“It’s not my fault I pushed faulty clickbait! Don’t you know the science always changes!”) and the use of credentials to establish themselves as unquestionable authorities to people who don’t know any better.

@@rackpull772 Mike definitely simplifies everything, the only thing that's not simplified with his content is the amount of people that struggle to walk away after he trains them on legs. It's okay to admit that you don't watch his videos and you learned this lie from somebody else

Not to be that guy, but who has Mike trained at a championship level? He couldn't even get himself a pro-card as a bodybuilder. I'm totally naive here about Mike despite nearly every video on the algorithm pumping him onto my timeline despite not really watching his videos, but has he trained himself to a championship level? He's a hobbyist bjj guy, right?

@@pdecarlo I'd say it's worth noting that RP has two IFBB pros in their top ranks - one the CEO. And that the coaches that train people to championship level are rare. Most of the time it's coaches who train champions. As in the champions are already made, or right on the cusp. The champion coach comes in and helps them maintain the too spot, or gets them over that line, but much of the leg work has been done already getting them to that point. Israetel may not have coached champions, but he's a good populizer of training knowledge for those who are interested. Has he offered anything groundbreaking? No. Might many find his educational style informative and useful? Definitely. I don't think we should dismiss someone just because they haven't trained a top athlete.

And in some cases, they're great in spite of the dumb training from their "championship coaches". The guy that trained Tom Brady comes to mind. He had Brady doing a bunch of banded bullshit @Gargarks

At that high level of bodybuilding dna plays such a role that even with best trainning, dieting and pharmaceutical approach its just not meant for some people to compete at that level. That said its the quality and validity of the information regardless if they come from a pro or a skinny sports science nerd.
