At my best age (when I considered myself a good runner) could hold that speed for exactly 1 km. After the race I was lying flat on the track hoping to survive. This guy tops that performance 42 times and jumps around celebrating afterwards. I can only admire such an athlete.

@SergeantColdgirl
@SergeantColdgirl 5 жыл бұрын
You don't seem to understand the amount of training they do to prepare for this. His VO2 Max is definitely insane to be able to keep that pace after so long. As for fatigue, it's because he doesn't have much muscle mass for him to be "tired" therefore his lactic acid threshold shouldn't affect him as much. That's why it's easier for them to run for long distances without having to expend too much energy since they don't have much muscle mass to supplement.

These marathon videos are always deceptive because the moving camera makes it appear he's running lower than he really is. A better perspective would be to have cameras on teh side of the road capture him as he goes by and splice that with teh moving vehicle footage. Only then can you appreciate how fast he is really running. A better idea is to go to one of these races and stand near the finish just so you can see how fast he runs by you.

It's due to the amount of strenuous training they do to prepare for this. As well as because he doesn't have much muscle mass for him to be "tired" therefore his lactic acid threshold shouldn't affect him as much. That's why it's easier for them to run for long distances without having to expend too much energy since they don't have much muscle mass to supplement.

@B K don't forget that there are other races too at the same time. The athletes from the wheelchair race don't really have a choice so sometimes they are just really close. It's really not the perfect condition but that makes kipchoges time even more impressive
