Indeed. The irony was, that as a woman - and the youngest female child too - she was the LAST child of a king in those times, who was expected to be the strongest ruler. Pity.

Lady Diana William Shakespeare was born 1564, Queen Elizabeth I was born in 1533. What is the age difference there, pray tell?

No matter what headcanons you are making, the history books say something else. Elizabeth Tudor did not have any children, hence the title "Virgin Queen". She refused to marry anyone. Robert Dudley here was sort of her "favourite", but Robert was married to Amy. Robert and Elizabeth started to grow distant when Amy died in mysterious circumstances which started a rumor mill. Before her death Elizabeth appointed the throne of England to James I, the son of her cousin Mary, Queen of Scots. Elizabeth had executed Mary for treason and James had abandoned his mother as well. The royals were related in England and Scotland, but United Kingdom wasn't a thing back then yet and the politics were less than friendly. James was considered the first King of England and Scotland united.
