Thanks to whomever set up Elizabeth Cotten's visit to the public schools, and to whomever had the foresight to record it.

If you don't have time to watch the whole video, go to the 12:05 mark and watch the next 2 minutes, which is the end just before the credits role.. Very beautiful. Her great heart and soul shines bright. For Grateful Dead or Jerry Garcia fans, watch the whole video and you'll see her sing her song which the Dead later recorded on "Dead Reckoning" as "Babe it aint no lie" ... and which Jerry also played solo and with his solo band.

Something that struck me about this performance... she was a teacher. The poise and manner was one of instruction. One of the best guitarists in the world, so humble and nonchalant... This is a superstar!

I love this! How lucky these kids were to have her speak in class. I saw her at the Philadelphia Folk Fest in 1972. Her song Freight Train was the fist song I ever learned to fingerpick and sing at age 16. I’m 68 now and so glad I found this video 😀❤️ Thanks for posting 👍
