@@rogertaylor7433 Neither Wickham nor Lydia had any idea of Darcy and Elizabeth. All Lizzie mentioned was Darcy was not improved, but while at Hunsford, (visiting the Collinses) he was better understood. That was it, at that point. Also, Darcy being at the residence of his aunt, Wickham likely knew that Miss de Bourgh was the arranged wife to be by both Lady Catherine and Darcy’s mother Lady Anne. Wickham did not choose to be with Elizabeth as she was too perceptive.

The BBC outdid themselves with this visual version of Pride and Prejudice, though not completely like the book, it still gives the book plenty of development through the nicely timed episodes. The cast, costumes and aesthetic is absolutely pristine! I still don't like any other version over this one. I wish they would do a digital clean up of this version, some of the scenes are a bit out of focus and grainy.

What I love about this adaptation is how even as Elizabeth slowly begins to come around and change her opinion of Darcy, party of her stubbornly refuses to acknowledge that she actually does LIKE him on some level. Even at the end of this scene as she says out loud to herself that she'll never see him again because of the mess her family is in, it still seems like she hasn't completely acknowledged why that saddens her. It really speaks to the slow burn and growth the two leads go through.

Then you find out that they were a rapist and murderer when you first met them. Isn't that betrayal? Now, that's an extreme example, but Wickham is going after Lydia, a silly child easily swayed by romance, in hopes of getting his debts settled by her family, the same reason he went after poor Georgiana.

Well, from my point of view Lizzy was previously informed from Mr Darcy by his letter to her on the true nature of Wickham, seducing his own sister..Thus the elopement of Wickham with her sister, Lydia, was a further, central blow to her prejudices. I think that the confession of her prejudices and amendments towards Mr Darcy in this point are short-coming. Instead the story is all about silly Lydia and the salvation by the love of Mr. Darcy towards Lizzy and, the reputation of her family. Well, I miss a little Lizzy’s growth of character by insight and remorse in her personal faults.

@@Musicienne-DAB1995 The actress for Lizzie looks as if she's about to burst into laughter and keeps reminding herself to look serious. Desperately tries to conjure up some tears and it fails spectacularly. When she's not talking, she looks incredibely irritated with everyone around her, which makes it confusing when she then smiles at them because I don't know if it's meant to look that fake, and it even happens when she's (given the situation) supposed to in distress. That's all made worse by the scene going on forever, but that's hardly her fault, of course.
