Because regulations and taxes = less value to consumers why more poverty today
@SaboTaly4 жыл бұрын
Ben, I think you missed the better part of this interview. Increasing poverty is directly related to more and more of the tax burden being shouldered by working class individuals. The top 1% pay at about half the tax rate that you or I do. The tax code is so heavily slanted in their favor, that some avoid paying taxes all together. Add to that the huge falloff on corporate taxes. Amazon, Starbucks, Chevron and many others all paid no taxes in 2019. The statuatory corporate tax rate is 21% But, through tax writeoffs, subsidies, and other financial shuffling these companies end up paying very little or nothing at all. So your statement should read as "Because no regulation and taxes on the wealthy or on corporations = why more poverty today"

I am hoping, that in 2016, Mr. Bernard Sanders, becomes President of these United States, and Senator Elizabeth Warren. becomes the Vice President... I am not going to get into, any specifics... You will all make your own choices... PLEASE, LISTEN, TO BOTH OF THEIR FEELINGS, ABOUT WHAT IS HAPPENING, TO, ALL OF US., AND THE CHANGES, THAT HAVE, TO BE MADE... THANK YOU

I love Elizabeth Warren, but I'm a little disappointed that she makes such a point of standing up for the democrats at the beginning of this interview. Voting for a raised minimum wage and campaign finance reform is one thing, but making it a key point in American politics and forcing the American people to address it is another.
@vinista2564 жыл бұрын
Dimitri Smith “forcing them to address it” ... so, what are you advocating-that she engineer a coup and impose her policies by royal decree? Come on, man-this is a democracy. It’s up to US, the people, to do the forcing. We’re not going to accomplish anything by expecting any particular politician to be a superhero (which, in real-world terms, means expecting them to be a despot).

Make a few laws making it completely illegal to take money, or to be affiliated with ANY lobbyists or financial institutions while in Government. Stop selling democracy to the highest bidder. Should be like jury duty but the restrictions should be life-time financial/affiliation restrictions. Stop the bribes against humanity, and our country.

holy cow. after hearing about her career, though i'm familiar with her humiliation of the fed prez video, I REALLY like this lady. there's no way she would turn on us like Obama did. she's for real for real. what a long shot it would be to get her to the white house. the business class HATES her. the best sign you can get that a politician's honest. though her faith in the democratic party is kinda sad. the things she talks about here were entirely absent during the last election which cost the democrats so dearly, every democrat was so busy trying to back away from Obama (don't love him much either) they didn't talk about these issues which everyone would agree are fair and rational. if Elizabeth warren was the voice of the democratic party, and they espoused the things she talks about here rank and file all across the country, people would vote for her overwhelmingly.

The way that politics seem to work is screwed up laws verses helpful laws. As well wool pulled over eyes of public while congress is sitting ducks with bad advisors. Lobbyists are a mix. On another note...also can you please suggest advertising less about things like abc mouse and more pbs kids. Scientology gets funds from abc mouse in the long run. They seem to give advertisement even for paid tv shows. Some cults are well known to be abusive to many members and ex members... or at least allow it.

It wouldn´t be better if those very poor and middle class kids start saving money so they will be more likely to be thrifty from an early stage of their lives so they will know the value of money instead of getting themselves in debt. I think maybe at school they should start some savings programs. I remember in my country they used to have those and not anymore. I think it could be a part of the solution.

i'm saying lose the defensively earnest tone. if you sound like you're begging, you've lost ground unnecessarily. state these axioms plainly and assertively because they are truth. i'm not saying there can't be leadership without charisma; i'm canadian. our prime ministers are often soggy fish, like chretien and harper. but when my eight year old daughter whines, i ask her to repeat herself with a less whiny tone because it makes a sound argument seem vulnerable.

apagoogoo In other words, she’s conforming too much to what our culture expects of female behavior. Yet when she eviscerates the CEO of Wells Fargo in a hearing or kneecaps Michael Bloomberg in a debate, millions of people complain about how mean and bullying she is. I don’t think a woman has been born who can satisfy the contradictory expectations we have for a female in power.

How could anyone be so totally misinformed on the US Infrastructure and who paid for it? Without the revenue from Businesses Government would NOT exist. Roads, power stations, dams that provide power to America, Coal and energy business that provide all our energy needs and thousands of essential products were all built via the revenue from businesses. Who built the first railroads? Private businesses. Who built the massive Dams that provide power to the Southwest? Businesses. The citizens did pay some of the taxes but guess who provided the salaries for citizens to pay taxes. Businesses. Business and their workers paid the taxes to build our schools. Businesses and their workers paid the taxes to build hospitals. There are over 119 Million private sector workers being paid by businesses. The Two Million GOVERNMENT workers , their Agencies, salaries, benefits are all being paid by PRIVATE BUSINESSES. My God! How could Warren be so totally uninformed, she is another total incompetent government official proving her ignorance.
@satyricon45110 жыл бұрын
Wow that's confusing. Business and government, the private and the public sector are engaged in a dynamic relationship. Government collects taxes from the people (including businesses) and directs that money into the building of infrastructure, the dams and roads and so forth. Government contracts with businesses specializing in construction to build public works projects, many of which-like the TVA projects-were built to stimulate the economy following the financial collapse in 1929. Government created demand for and financed these projects. It'd be more correct to say that the people of the United States built the dams. Besides, government (in some form) has to exist for business to operate. That was demonstrated by the Ronald Coase in the 60s. For business transactions to occur, there needs to be some (credible and dependable) entity enforcing property rights. That's government. That's the judiciary in coordination with the other branches of government. There's nothing wrong with business until some sector, some monopoly or cartel gets too big and threatens to topple the international economy by its sheer weight. Warren's not concerned with small businesses. She's worried about the Wall Street behemoths that are playing fast and loose because they've set it up so the public has to bail them out. It's classic moral hazard that if left unchecked, will find us all at the brink again-more sooner than later.
