You know what I just realized...all wearers of the Kanohi Ignika represented one of the virtues. Trough Unity with the Agori and Glatorian, Mata Nui was able to regain his old body. Toa Ignika's only purpose was his duty to awaken the Great Spirit. And it was Matoro's Destiny to die so that Mata Nui can live.

I always felt the red with the Mahri was like the black with the Mata/Nuva. Other sets I do consider the red pins cons should have just been black, but here the red accents on all the Mahri sets help unify the team, and it also gives this look of out of place equipment, like how scuba gear is iconically black and yellow, the Mahri's scuba gear has a red to it. -the Mahri are my favourite team if you couldn't tell

Oh boy, make way you guys for Bionicle Jesus! Joking aside, one of the things that stands out about Matoro to me is just how badass he is. I mean, lets think back. He single-handedly freezes the Maxilos robot, selflessly dies to save the universe, and in the Mahri video, he rams a sea sled into Gadunka's mouth, AND grabs the Ignika before Hydraxon and Maxilos can get it WHILE RIDING A TAKEA SHARK! The set's pretty cool too. The tubes are great for mocs.

It's funny, I had gotten this set back in 2008-9, and around the time I learned Matoro dies, all of the set's joints started to crack until he ultimately couldn't stay in one piece. Kind of weird, in my opinion.

You see, the Mahri have always been one of my favorite Toa generations, even though they lack lots of complexity (I think gears would’ve been cool to bring back earlier). Matoro, however, has ever been one of my favorite Toa of all time, he is really cool in the Mahri sets, he stands out, seems more like a leader than even Jaller.

It's good when toas look unique instead of being exact clones of each other but I'd say the toa Mahri took it too far. Even a little more consistency would make them much more appealing. They could, for instance, have at least matching chestplates and shoulders like the toa Nuva or something.
