Elk Lakes Bikeovernight - GDMBR - Trans-Canada Trail

Nestled at the height of the Elk Valley in the Rocky Mountains of British Columbia, right next to Alberta's Peter Lougheed Provincial Park lies the Elk Lakes and a gorgeous little campground.
The ride there from the Alberta side a real treat and super fun. This route is also suitable for folks looking to get into bikepacking and for adventurous families looking for a great weekend adventure.

Thanks Sean, we went yesterday and had a blast, even with so-so weather. We were hoping to do the campground yesterday night, but apparently some scouts had overrun the ACC hut and campground. We got halfway down the BC side and ran into some fellow Calgarians coming back up, who saved us the full haul down and up. Pro tip: don’t waste your time on BC Parks’ reso site, they won’t honour the permit. All worked out, we ended up back by Upper Kananaskis and stayed at the awesome Mount Sarrail Campground -where there was no fire ban! Thanks for the pro tips.

Great vid! I want to do this ride now but I’m definitely scared of bears 🐻 😂 I’ll wear some annoying bells and sing badly, that should keep them away.
