I teach Adventist history and find that many don't know she was a twin. The one thing that really turned Elizabeth off to religion was how the family was treated when they were kicked out of the Methodist church due to their continued propagation of the Millerite message of the soon return of Jesus. This soured her for the rest of her life. Notice the birth date on Elizabeth's headstone was Nov. 18, 1826. We were recently there early this last October, and I photographed her headstone.

Thank you for sharing the story of Elizabeth, Ellen Whites twin sister. I often wondered what happened to her. I read Miss Ellen Whites’ books, that had mentioned she had a twin sister and I saw the movie “ Go Tell The World “ and her sister didn’t seem as if she shared sister Ellen Whites faith. She actually was portrayed as not a very close sister. She wasn’t very kind to her sister Ellen in the movie. So now my question has been answered, and it helps me a lot to know how much Sister Ellen White went through. Loosing her two boys and trying to explain to her sister about Jesus Christ our Savior. Something I’m try to do for my family members including my own boys who has walked away from the truth, and has chosen the world. I just lost my brother in December 2024 who was an atheist. I prayed and pleaded with him all our lives, yet he tried to prove me wrong. I’m so sad I will never see my brother ever again. He was such a lovely person but he did not believe in Our Heavenly Father. Thank you kindly for putting my mind at ease . Anything said with sweeping, emotional music in the background is immediately suspicious to me as having coercive intent. Sure enough - look at the subtle shaming of Elizabeth for "choosing to live out her life quietly... away from the church her sister helped build" and for "leaving behind no writings or public records of her beliefs" when she died. There are a number of problematic ideas and insinuations here, including: (1) Living a quiet, private life in accordance with your own values and spiritual convictions is wrong. (2) Personal religious convictions do not matter - rather, one should defer to the religious convictions of family members. (3) If a family member holds a role of church leadership, you are therefore also expected to take on a similar role (regardless of actual skill, interest, or calling). (4) The public is owed written material about Elizabeth's personal religious beliefs; and her life is considered less valuable than Ellen's because she didn't deliver. (This one is wild and bizarre. Elizabeth never claimed to be a prophet or "messenger" as Ellen did! She doesn't owe anyone anything.) The video tries - and fails - to subtly sweep all this under the rug by wrapping it up in a fluffy, "pray for your non-believing family members" message. However, the real message is a reiteration to current members that the SDA Church is the right church and anyone outside of it is lost. The way, therefore, to deal with non-SDA family members is to "pray for them" from a place of obvious spiritual superiority - not to actually talk with them, seek to understand their point of view, respect their intelligence, or learn from each other's differences. Side note - Is the lady in this video ok??? Her delivery is giving off serious brainwashing vibes... 😬 Or is this AI???

She actually was portrayed as not a very close sister. She wasn’t very kind to her sister Ellen in the movie. So now my question has been answered, and it helps me a lot to know how much Sister Ellen White went through. Loosing her two boys and trying to explain to her sister about Jesus Christ our Savior. Something I’m try to do for my family members including my own boys who has walked away from the truth, and has chosen the world. I just lost my brother in December 2024 who was an atheist. I prayed and pleaded with him all our lives, yet he tried to prove me wrong. I’m so sad I will never see my brother ever again. He was such a lovely person but he did not believe in Our Heavenly Father. Thank you kindly for putting my mind at ease . Showing me Gods people even His chosen prophet went through our pain and suffering.. Blessings to you all Andreè Troy PS My dad is also an Atheist. We were raised Roman Catholic. My dad has dementia so unfortunately he is lost too. I tried wholeheartedly to explain to my dad about Jesus. He too would not listen. Now his mind is too far gone for anyone to explain the truth to him. I’m working hard on telling my mum and husband. It’s so hard with the gadgets and worldly distractions we have at our fingertips. Please pray for some understanding for our families to listen, because time is running out . I believe we are the last generation to be here. The days are going rapidly and we all can see a drastic change in everything that’s happening on our planet earth. May God help us all.

I understand you. I faced some similar situations. Neither Jesus was accepted by his earthly brothers before His crucifixion and resurection.
