I really need to get back into wet plate photography. The class at Dallas Center for Photography with Lisa Elmaleh was great. Not sure if I have met Ellen yet. She may have dropped by Don's Used Photo Equipment while I was there. This is some beautiful work. Oh, and a very nice video.

Super cool! I always wanted a gipsy photo wagons from the past. Looks like it would draw customers in where ever you go? I presume you need a vendors license to charge people or perhaps you can ask for donations. Using a strobe is a great idea to get the exposure time down. What is the f stop of the lens, shutter time and asa of the tin type?

I have the same question, I dont think it is strobes, but just lights. Aperture is F/6.3 and iso, I guess around 3 asa

Where can I get a Tintype camera? I've always wanted to get into tintype photography.
@Exploredinary
@Exploredinary Жыл бұрын
It’s a standard large format camera, the tin type part of it comes into play with the special chemicals she is using to put emulsion on a piece of metal and make it light sensitive. You can use any large format camera to do this. Do an internet search for “tin type classes” and see if people are offering them in your area 😃

What camera & film do you use, do they still make these today?
@Exploredinary
@Exploredinary Жыл бұрын
It’s an old Deardorf camera that can be found in antique stores and auction sites like eBay. The image is made from coating a metal plate with light sensitive chemicals, so the metal plate is the image, no film involved.

@Exploredinary
@Exploredinary 3 жыл бұрын
You can find a camera on eBay, but the difficult part for this kind of photography is finding the chemicals that go on the plate. They are very dangerous so they are not easy to get ahold of. Some people have told us you have to have an educational connection to be able to purchase them.
