Whenever I watch a marriage video (guilty of binge watching them even though I'm only just 20 and never dated a soul 😂) I try not to see myself as the bride (God already has my future figured out) but the Church. I watch the relationship between the new husband and wife and relate it to the Lord Jesus and how He will soon take His bride to be with Him forever. _"The bride eyes not her garment,_ _But her dear Bridegroom’s face;_ _I will not gaze at glory_ _But on my King of grace._ _Not at the crown He giveth_ _But on His pierced hand;_ _The Lamb is all the glory_ _Of Emmanuel’s land."_ I love that hymn; we just have to look to Jesus and no matter what state we're in, no matter what we're going through in that moment, He will never cease loving us, nourishing and cherishing us with the same love He had as He died for our freedom on the cross! The attraction of Christ (the 'husband') is something that's been a challenge to my heart, not because anything is lacking on my Saviour's part but on account of my flesh which naturally pushes away anything of Him. And this amazes me, because through all my unfaithfulness, He is faithful. A wise woman once told me that the 3 things we need to learn this devotion to God are: _1. Attraction for Christ_ _2. Attachment to Christ_ _3. Affection for Christ_ Each one comes after the other, becoming more appealing to us as our hearts are filled with Christ. ("He must increase, I must decrease) That same lady also told me that love requires sacrifice, aways. If we truly love Jesus then there are sacrifices we must make, but looking back they won't seem like the sacrifices they were at the time. Marriage (should be) a friendship between two individuals who confide in one another, set time apart each day to listen to one another, share everything and hide nothing. As with the Lord: Psalm 4.5 tells us to "Confide in the Lord", and the footnote to 'confide' says _"implying security without anxiety."_ So beautiful, that when we're walking with Jesus we can experience pure safety and joy, for "perfect love casts out fear". Marriage is a close bond. Love should grow stronger over time. Our love for the Lord should strengthen day by day, each new morning bringing overwhelming fulness of joy to our hearts with which we can praise Him for all He is, all He has done! I don't know much about earthly marriage, but the more I see videos like this, the more it makes me long for Jesus to return 🙏❤
