To all who are wondering why the judges underscored him, many actually thought that he deserved at least a bronze. The reason he did not get it is that the judges were actually homophobic. They even made derogatory remarks against him ( and later had to apologize ). One of them even went on record to say, "They’ll think all the boys who skate will end up like him. It sets a bad example.” It is sad and fucked up, but that's the way the world was in 2010 ( and kinda still is ).

I don't follow much figure skating but this seemed to be a pattern when people talked about Johnny Weir. They talk about him as if he's just a character and entertainer, not an incredible skater.

Johnny Weir was always known in the beginning of his skating career as an internal skater. He was shy at the time and being bullied. The programs he did for SP and LP 2010 Olympics showed he trained more with his coach Galina and gained more self confidence from her pushing him to train hard and skate better. I can see he skated with more abandonment and carefree personality. Even though you didn't medal Johnny Weir. You were gold in our hearts.

Sue Adriana yeah I think it was very condescending how they were speaking about him. Especially the comentador that introduced him "can he back it up with skating" well he's won three years in a row so...

I still feel like he was under-scored atleast a little bit here! It wasn't the most power packed short program but it was executed fantastically, I remember taking off my socks and throwing them at the tv when his scored aired in 2010...

My boyfriend and I watched this performance a few days ago and even after watching Evgeni, Shouma and Yuzuru he says this performance was the best out of all of them since he didnt understand how it finished so quickly as in he didnt get bored or looked away even for a second. And I cant agree more, he might not be the best skater out there but he can make people watch him you just dont want to look away because you can miss something, it just flows so well and honestly he owns that ice. Plus; fuck the judges.

I try not to listen to the commentators or the score, because honestly the only thing I need to listen to is the performance. I don't need them to tell me what to think because the fact is his performance made me happy and I think that's all that matters.
