I haven't been on that general area since the 80's. I had a very hard time making it up the hill., my pack was getting too heavy. I would sit down and find so much that I didn't want to leave. Been in Hawaii chasing volcanos and lava since 1994. When my friends travel around the world I ask them to bring me a palm sized stones, don't waste money on t shirts. I've gotten some very interesting pieces mostly from non geologists.

I have a couple small rocks with tiny deep forest green crystals on the surface. I find stuff along roadsides as I pick up garbage. Lots of random but interesting colors, shapes, features that mean nothing to me other than 'hey! COOL!'. 😂 I Love to learn that some things I have, are special. Thank you for taking us on your adventures and teaching us. My next adventure will be getting a tumbler, but I'm afraid I will ruin rather than shine. Keep on Hounding ❤

I want to THANK YOU PERSONALLY FOR THE VIDEOS YOU MAKE AND THE CONTENTS!!! I am so fortunate/BLESSED to be in the group of under 5000 viewers who have seen ALL OF THE WONDERFUL BEAUTIFUL CRERATIONS THAT I HAVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE IN MY EARLIER YEARS LIVING!!! My goodness the vast/endless varieties of ALL CREATIONS SEEN AND UNSEEN!!! THANK YOU FOR SHARING WITH ME AND THE REST OF THE WORLD, YOU ARE UTTERLY AMAZING, JUST AS MY TWO DAUGHTERS!!!
Those are beautiful colors. Love your enthusiasm. I'm 75 and love to collect rocks on my dog walks. I have an entire porch full. Interesting to learn the make up of minerals from an actual rock geologist

Hopefully you'll take a look at the one I just posted! I'm looking for the spot it struck but I haven't found it in my thick grass. Much respect always! Kim K.

Another reason for placing the timbers along the side of the road (and I think it's most likely why the timbers were used in this case) was to help prevent the side of the road cut from washing out by rain runoff.

A thought, unless it’s exceptional leave specimen collecting till the way down. That way you’ll know what’s there and prioritize. And have an easier hike up.

Why are the mining spots just left messy? Is it public land? Not sure how claims are on public/non public,? Land. I'm surprised they aren't required to clean the sites up.
@ElleyKnowsRocks Жыл бұрын
sometimes they just are... I'm not always sure why. each permit has requirements for reclamation and I have no idea what this one is/ was. but I do enjoy seeing all the old equipment :) I make the best out of it.

I have found rocks in the area of Superior. Chrisacola, apache tears (obsidion). I enjoy your narration, hikes, views, rocks, etc... But the background music is annoying noise. It distracts from the good content.
