Hi, I’m Ellie. I work in the NHS mental health supporting adults of eating disorders I've had this job since I graduated in 2018 from university with a degree in psychology and I'd love to talk to you today about the DNA Light Up process. Why it's meant so much to me and I think particularly why as a millennial and a recent graduate.
Light Up came into my life. I’d had quite a long mental health journey where I'd come across several perspectives and therapies, though useful I still felt a real deep sense that I wasn't sure who I was deep down. And regularly I'd find myself getting caught up in my thinking and becoming quite overwhelmed with the expectations that I had on myself at university and also in the workplace.
I think this feeling is common to many people but actually particularly to people of my generation because I think for most of our lives have been brought up with constant access to distraction and things that we can put our attention to... several things at once without having to spend that much time alone with ourselves.
I think that we spend more time connecting to each other online and forget almost that that human connexion is still something that we need to foster. We don't have many moments of stillness to really check in with what's going on for us. I personally really recognise that feeling of not actually being sure how I was deep down because I didn't spend that much time with that person.
Truly I think because of this more people when they enter the workplace, that they do so in a little bit of a daze. They haven't actually had the time to stop think take stock of themselves work out what it is that they want and reconnect to why they want to enter that field particularly in the first place.
I wonder if this is why the wellness movements and wellness industry is particularly popular with people of my generation. But to me there's something that's missing from those things, and what was missing was a thing that I found with DNA Light Up. It was a real transformative moment for me ,and it gave me tools to really connect to who I was deep down, things that have been unaffected by everything else that happened in life. Foster that sense of intuition that I have, use that as a guide going forward into the future, and tools for how I can do that most successfully.
I'm really excited and passionate about sharing this perspective with other people in my generation in such a fast and experiential way. I think it could be incredibly helpful for a lot of people
