I was so shocked at your love languages test results because I was convinced both of you (though maybe mostly Jared) would have words of affirmation first! You both make a point of telling each other & your families how much you love and appreciate them and everything they do. I'm not surprised that the acts of service was Ellie's highest because at different times she asks for help a lot and she's got medical problems so she needs help doing some things, especially on days she doesn't feel well or on days that she feels worse than normal. Like Ellie, I've got thyroid problems too so maybe that's why I'm not surprised by the results because I know how she feels.

My husband and I went to a workshop on this book and we have both read the book on our own. It has been amazing how understanding how each of us feels loved has really made our relationship stronger! I think that fact that you two seem to be opposites in your love languages and the message you send to your viewers about selflessness in relationship/marriage is encouraging because it truly shows how much you both have a heart for giving, helping and encouraging others! The 5 Love Languages book was one of the best books my husband and I ever read when we were engaged! My love language is quality time while his is words of affirmation, and knowing that about each other has helped us so much with keeping each other's love tank full. Another book that's wonderful is The Spirit Filled Temperaments, it helps not only in marriage but with understanding people in general. There are apparently 4 different temperaments or personality types, once you figure out someone's love language and temperament it becomes SO much easier to communicate and love on them the way THEY need.

Love the 5 Love Languages! The thing to remember is that is how each person likes to show and receive love the most and for your kids. The boys might still be young to determine theirs. Jared cleaning up the kitchen is exactly an act of service!

My husband and I are in the middle of a parenting bible study, and the 5 love languages is part of it. Apparently we each have 2 primary love languages, but can identify with each of them a little. It's so useful to know your partner's love language. It's easy to show your love to someone the way you think love is shown but that person would rather receive it a different way. And receiving gifts sounds shallow or materialistic but it's not. If my husband or kids or anyone picks a flower and gives it to me that makes my day. it's not about an expensive gift it's about the thought. in fact I think people who have receiving gifts as their love language are the ones who think "it's the thought that counts " and are the most grateful.

My church went over the love language book, and it's a really great book to really study out and get to know each other, that way we can serve one another in the ways that are best for each other! 'I Choose Us' is another great book for married couples, and has a life trap test in it! And 'Emotionally Healthy Spirituality' is a great on too

Ellie when you are sick or when you start to feel it coming on or the kids show sicky symptoms first, I always start taking cloves of raw garlic minced with some oj as a chaser. Garlic is natural antibiotic and antifungal. Both my kiddos got colds and I took garlic. I only got a sinus thing but never felt bad or sick or lethargic at all. Garlic kept my hubby from food poisoning once. It's nasty to take but it really works. Mince it up , let it sit for 5 min, and then put the minced pieces in a little at a time and drink it down with oj. Hope you feel better!!!

Put the minced in your mouth I meant to say and then just swig down the oj to help it not burn your tongue and help with swallowing bec it can be hard something especially bec of the texture for me personally. But I swear by it and go my in laws to do this too. Bone broth is good too for you.

We did the 5 love languages and my top 2 are the same as Ellie's. It's so important to try and "fill your spouse's love tank." The best way to do that is to really speak in their love languages! It's hard to not try and do for your spouse what works for you! :)

My husband and I noticed that we love each other in the way that we want to be loved. We loved the test in the book, but even more accurate as loving the way he loved. So I noticed my hubs would make me meals when he wanted to love me. So I started making him special fancy dinners and he would feel SO loved. He noticed I would make time for us together and give him gifts, and so he began to do those things for me... and I felt so loved!

I think most people I know have different love languages than their significant other. Just like you said, communication is so important in a relationship. Listening to the other person, but also sometimes you need to tell the other person what you need (people are not mind readers and there is no point in getting mad because your significant other cannot read your mind).
