Excluding one or two songs, Delerium is drastically different compared to the first album. A lot of it is really badly done generic pop music. I love pop music, so I can safely say that album is mostly not the good kind of pop. Lost and Found and Devotion are the only two songs on Delerium that are really similar to Ellie's older songs. It almost seems like Lost and Found was purposely meant to be a throwback to her older style, if you take the meaning of the song + the production into account.

this may be my favourite ellie goulding song ever. it's so raw and personal from the emotion she conveys through it. and i like it a lot too because it's relatable. most girls can relate to a song like this you know.. trying to change for a boy to get him to like you or feeling inadequate because he doesn't notice you in the way you want him to

You wait for a silence I wait for a word Lie next to your frame Girl unobserved You change your position And you are changing me Casting these shadows Where they shouldn't be We're interrupted by the heat of the sun Trying to prevent what's already begun You're just a body I can smell your skin And when I feel it, you're wearing thin But I've got a plan Why don't you be the artist, and make me out of clay? Why don't you be the writer and decide the words I say? 'Cause I'd rather pretend I'll still be there at the end Only it's too hard to ask, won't you try to help me Sat on your sofa, it's all broken springs This isn't the place for those violin strings I try out a smile and I aim it at you You must have missed it You always do But I've got a plan Why don't you be the artist, and make me out of clay? Why don't you be the writer and decide the words I say? 'Cause I'd rather pretend I'll still be there at the end Only it's too hard to ask, won't you try to help me You wait, I wait, casting shadows, interrupted You wait, I wait, casting shadows, interrupted You wait, I wait, casting shadows, interrupted You wait, I wait, casting shadows Why don't you be the artist, and make me out of clay? Why don't you be the writer and decide the words I say? 'Cause I'd rather pretend I'll still be there at the end Only it's too hard to ask, won't you try to help me Why don't you be the artist, and make me out of clay? Ellie Goulding has been my favorite artist since 2010. I have enjoyed all of her styles of music. I adore all of her albums, although "Halcyon" will always be my favorite. I don't think she's changed. She's just growing as an artist. Anything she makes, I'll listen to.

Her last album sucked ass though. I can’t even remember the name of it but it’s the one with the white background and she’s blue lol. Those songs were awful. “Why don’t you be the artist, I’ll make me out of clay, why don’t you be the writer, and decide the words I say” Those are some of the coolest lyrics I’ve ever seen. Not only do they just sound interesting but she makes such a common sense point that you almost never hear in songs-in most cases, all you have to do to make someone say the things you want or be the way you want is to treat them the way they need to be treated to get them to say/do those things. You form your relationships with people by the way you treat them and talk to them. That concept makes so much sense but it just doesn’t get touched on much in music for some reason.
