Just a note, vehicle and other manufacturing industry production rates can be misleading. Whilst one unit may leave the assembly line at the rate of one every 2 minutes or even faster one every 60 seconds, that is not the time taken to produce one unit. A specific unit may take 2 weeks to get from one end of the assembly line to the other, and no unit can exit the assembly line faster than the slowest process along the line. So for vehicles to leave the line every minute, no process along the line can take longer than 60 seconds. Vehicles are more involved than an empty box, so seems should be feasible to get processes down to less than 1 minute, and have the line operate like water flowing along a pipe. Want to measure the outflow, not that it took 2 days for the water to travel across the country to the tap (faucet). So a matter of perspective, need to be comparing the same production parameters.

I don’t think people realize how difficult manufacturing is - and building a business to manufacture from scratch is. Paolo and Galiano have shown that they have rare skillset to do so many, many essential tasks to pull this off. Designing, marketing, fundraising, etc. Most importantly, is that they’re good leaders. They infect their teammates with their vision and enthusiasm and treat them right and encourage them to innovate, contribute and grow with the company. A rare find and why I think they’re going to succeed.

I worked in a factory making similar box-type rooms over 20 years ago. I was on the saw section cutting the timber frames that would form the walls, roof, doors. CFC gas was used (before it was banned) to pump liquid insulation foam between the metal skin of the walls. You could literally heat the rooms with a candle the insulation was that good. It took a few days to produce a 40ft x 20 ft room, that cost €20,000, I believe. The customer had to make the foundations and concrete floor (with waste pipes and electrics) before the room could be erected which took only a few minutes to an hour. I haven't seen anything in this video to suggest there's new developments as the tour guide says, so I call bs on that. If the new part is "speed of production", then that's only down to the number of workers they have there; the more workers, the greater capacity for mass production.

Boxabl is not comparable to non-turnkey units that don't have already included plumbing, electric, HVAC, turnkey utility hookups, all kitchen appliances, single washer/dryer combo, breaker box... Boxabl's differentiation is comparably low-cost, high-quality, scalable, but most importantly hyper fast production (hours/minutes vs 4-6 months)... And this is all only possible in the factory because of the fold-down IP...

@@radiofreealbemuth8540 Paolo stated, on current models, the Casita weighs about 15,000 pounds, which is pushing past the top-end towing capabilities of most standard consumer facing pickup trucks, like an F-150... However, I just did a quick Google search and found that an F-250/F-350/F-450 can potentially tow much more than that in appropriate configurations... At the other end of spectrum, a big rig could potentially pull 2 Casitas on a double trailer (20 feet long per Casita gets 40 feet of max 53 foot standard trailer length)...

I'd love a lego style solution where you have A module, B, C and so on along with a second floor middle addition. So that you could use 4 modules + 2 middle addition and get a 2 story house with 2-3 bedrooms or 2 bedrooms, office, living room, bathroom, kitchen. Just snap it together and movie in, that would be a show of power that would stun everyone and more or less have the potential to solve any housing crisis. Where I live there is a hidden crisis, where scalpers buy up everything the moment it goes in to be sold, then they do nothing except jacking up the price by 100K+ and resell the house. This has caused a problem that there is not enough started homes as most can't afford 2 bedroom + guestroom/office type houses, but it's what they need. Prices are rampant as a result, so new solutions are desperately needed. Sadly I live in Norway where you have to build for temperatures from -25 C to 40 C and storm level winds. If your idea can withstand and be livable in such conditions then you'd really have something wonderful.

All of the different room module configurations have been on the company's website from the beginning... the Casita 20x20 was just the company's "minimal viable product" to get into the marketplace and make a name for themselves... Boxabl markets the Casita and their future room modules as getting you 90% of the way there on total setup... (A) For water, wastewater, and electric, there are turnkey hookups that plug-in to your utilities... (B) units are foundation agnostic... you can use (i) no foundation [not recommended], (ii) concrete slab, (iii) raised pylons on just the 4 corners of unit... they do not install for you, but provide guidelines for how to... (C) units come standard in base gray, but can be customized as need be by customer, including putting roof and/or solar panels right on top... (D) currently can be stacked 2/3 stories, but plan to go higher in future... (E) FEMA would definitely be a great customer, as they already sold to DOD in federal government... and they have been talking to LA mayor candidate Caruso about sheltering homeless in way better accommodations at way lower costs... (F) For investment, you have already missed (i) 2020 WeFunder crowdfund for 1 million, (ii) 2021 StartEngine crowdfund for 5 million, (iii) 2022 StartEngine Reg A+ for 75 million, and (iv) 2022 StartEngine crowdfund for 5 million, but they do anticipate having a 2023 StartEngine Reg A+ for 75 million, starting April 1, if they need the money at the time... (G) Margin-wise, the current Boxabl Casita sells for $60,000 and the 1st 156 unit order units cost about $47,000 to make, but the long-term goal is to push the cost down below $40,000 per unit...

Damn. This is amazing, both the whole boxabl approach and your work on this video! I have been planning on touring the factory but this is so good I dont feel so bad for not being able to make it. I wish I had grabbed more shares during their recent offering I also cant wait for these to be available. On the wait list and hope to snag a couple once our number comes up. Very exciting!

The Lego idea is really cool. A cheap and cheerful single unit for a starter home, then tack on another unit if you start a family or get big pay raise (or finally pay off those student loans). No need to over-pay or over-commit for a traditional "forever home".

One of the snags that has always hit the prefab market is local codes. They will be up against the unions in many places that will see them as a threat. Hurricane codes in states along the gulf & East coast. Lots of barriers to over come for national distribution.

I feel like you can take this 1 observation you made here and find another couple dozen like it, which when taken in aggregate, make the productivity step from current production methods to this process unlike any other single step change improvement in any industry for the past 100 years... it is a combination of Boxabl squeezing out newly unleashed offsite advantages combined with the sheer lack of productivity gains made by industry in the last 50 years...

Back in 2002 there was a house in my old neighborhood that came in 5 large pre-made pieces -- and placed on a foundation (basement) and was put together in a few days. Putting together the roof and the interior finishing took quite a bit longer though. Regardless it was cool and I though - well here is the future - but that was the last time I saw something like that.

@@manofsan The 156 unit DOD contract was built/delivered from Q4 2021 to June 2022... They are currently delivering on 2 orders for the mine mentioned in the interview (200 units) and DR Horton (100 units)... DR Horton, the largest homebuilder in the US, is a strategic investor and customer, so I don't know what else we can tell you to convince you...
@manofsan
@manofsan 2 жыл бұрын
@@rule1capital - ultimately you need to have sales to the consumer market, if you're marketing it as a consumer product. That govt contract could've been a one-off, and we don't know the cost paid by the US military, which doesn't necessary buy at consumer market rates. I'd like to see the product showing up on the actual landscape, to know it's real and legitimate.
@rule1capital
@rule1capital 2 жыл бұрын
@@manofsan The DOD contract was a 1-off, but it was the best 1-off you could have to start the company's low-level production lines... obviously, you have done no work on this, because we have known for over a year how much the DOD contract was for the 156 units, $9.2 million... about a quarter of that total was booked for 2021 revenue and the rest will be booked for 2022 revenue... since Boxabl's crowdfund financing round in 2020, they have been filing documents on the SEC's EDGAR database, like all public companies do, including annual reports... so yes, we can know what the actual revenue and costs were...

With a lights-out robotic facility I am curious how they'll handle the electrical wiring. Traditional electrical outlets seem like something that would be hard for a robot to handle. I wonder custom receptacles and switches will be something they will have to design just for the Boxable assembly line robots.

Paolo and Galiano don't even talk about this anymore, but before they knew the Casita product would go viral, they were only planning on producing 1 per day at production Factory 1 (where there are producing now), but 10x those plans after the demand for product/investment blew up... even at that point in summer 2020, their website and promo videos already had the future roadmap for different room modules that would lego together... the Casita was such a smart choice for "minimum viable product" to get the "room module" idea into the market...
