My childhood memories brought me here. This was the first song I heard that wasn't a nursery rhyme. My first grade teacher had us learn to read by reading the lyrics. Once we got good at reading the lyrics, she then played the song and we would sing along with Mickey, Peter, Davy and Michael daily. Then after that, we all sang the song for the homecoming queen at the homecoming dance; I'll never forget the look of unbridled joy on her face after we finished. This song will forever be in my iTunes library.

Love how songs immediately put you back to some moment in time. This one invariably jumps me back to driving down a particular part of the 101 freeway as a teenager (multiple decades ago). Even though I had heard the song many times before and after that, for some reason that particular instance of it coming on the radio stands out. It’s great when songs do that.

You want a haunting song from the same singer-songwriter who wrote this one, you should find "Broken Roses" from John Stewart's final album. I remember rushing to the TV every Monday at 7:30 to watch "The Monkees." They seem pretty wholesome compared with the stuff today--but they didn't last long that way... Thank you for being good role models (most of the time). I heard part of this song on Spongebob vs The Big One when the flying dutchman sank to Davy Jones's Locker and Davy Jones started to throw socks at him and part of this song started to play.

I was at Ft. Lee Virginia, December 1967, when this song came out! MUCHO memories! Good ones TOO! Too bad Davy is gone, he would have been really happy about the legalization of POT!

Replay value is stellar on this Jam- his voice craps out as he holds the word "Queen," but it still kicks my ass... This coming from a die hard Metallica fan!! Lolol
