They're the definition of "be careful who you make fun of in high school". The Knives and Pens video was literally made when Andy was 17ish. They actually acknowledged their first album was recorded like total shit and released a re-recorded version callled "Re-Swtich These Wounds" earlier this year.

@@michaelturner6335 I’m sure she would like something melodic and poppy like Dead by April despite the screams/growls. If there’s a good mix of cleans and screams, I don’t see an issue. Plus, it’s a way of getting used to harsh vocals overtime so you gain a tolerance for it. You know, get out of your comfort zone. But for ADTR, she could do If It Means A Lot to You and It’s Complicated. There’s no way she will dislike those two.

Hi, I'm a huge BVB fan and just happened to stumble over this video. I remember back when I was in junior high and some girls were watching the knives and pens video and I was still new to that kind of music. Maybe a year later I stumbled around the music video in the end and I fell in love with it. Now I love pretty much every song and I have explored other bands. I wasn't sure about screamo at first, but I have found that a little is okay but not a whole songs worth. Andy, the singer, is the only original member left. He's been in a movie and now also a tv series. He also has a side music thing called Andy Black, which I recommend especially if you liked the scarlet cross. A lot of the older songs of BVB have more screamo in them, so the older you go the more you might like. Also, and I haven't checked if you've looked into them at all, but another band I really like is Falling in Reverse. Now they have some screamo, some rap, and just regular singing. They have a nice mixture to there songs. I'm not a vampire was the first song and video I stumbled upon back in high school, so that one could be a good first song for you to look into. Also if you want more recent, I recommend either popular monster (one of my favorites which is mainly rap with some screamo) and losing my life (which is a little bit of everything plus I really like the music video. It has his daughter in it and I just love the tea party scene lol). Anyway I liked this video and good luck on your continuous searching!

Knives and Pens is the very first song BVB ever put out, and they were still in high school when they did it. It’s definitely heavier than their newer stuff but through all eras of their sound they’ve kept heavy riffs, soaring solos, and melodic vocals

What are the lyrics, do I connect with that? Basically what I'm saying is I strongly believe that we can learn so much from broadening our musical horizons and I love that you're doing this! (Also he is married to Juliet Simms, perhaps you've heard of her) And it's okay not to like screaming/growling, especially when you're new to metal and rock, I totally get it. At least you are trying to be open-minded, which is great, I like your reactions 😊 And music taste can evolve a lot.
