Ellinwood, Kansas Beautiful Tornado Siren Ambiance | 6/25/24

At 12:01:03 Barton County conducted a weekly test of the Town of Ellinwood Outdoor Warning Sirens on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024, the test consisted of about a 3 minute Alert.
After setting my camera up at the 10V2T, I walked a few blocks away so I could hear the ambiance. It turned out amazing. I figured out how I could edit the audio location to follow about where I’m at when I’m walking. It looks kinda dumb since it’s only updating my location every so often but it works, and is still accurate. I’ll definitely be coming back to this town in the future

They’re not super picky. They’ll test as long as it’s not mostly cloudy and/or rain is expected that day. However for SWA they don’t care much about the conditions at all. Barton County Emergency Communications in Great Bend controls all the sirens in the county

Shorter tests are pretty common in the Midwest, especially up north. So it is a bit strange to see 3 minute weekly tests in Kansas. Although in Oklahoma, weekly 3 minute tests are fairly common

@@borkluchtalarmNot really. People are used to it. Being in the center of Tornado Alley, people actually tune into it. They’ll listen to make sure their closest sirens are working when they’re tested on Saturdays
