so... what makes the end sculpture permanent (dry)? I know with polymer clay, you bake it in an oven. So how do you make this permanent?
@daddydeadbones
@daddydeadbones 4 жыл бұрын
You'll have to make a casting of it. Oil based clay won't ever be permanent. Sure it will harden a bit but you can always break it down and reuse it.
@TruthSurge
@TruthSurge 4 жыл бұрын
@@daddydeadbones ah..... okay, that makes sense. I saw one or two vids of a person doing that casting stuff. He smeared like two or three things over the model, then put some cast thing on it I don't remember but then he poured stuff on the edges inside and that became the model but it was like silicone. Anyway, thanks for that info. I guess you have to spend some $ on this hobby.
@daddydeadbones
@daddydeadbones 4 жыл бұрын
@@TruthSurge that's why some artists use polymer, pottery or air dry clay. They all have their advantages and disadvantages. Just use whatever works for you. Really its one of the cheaper crafts to get started. You can get going for a $100 or less. It's really not that bad.
@TruthSurge
@TruthSurge 4 жыл бұрын
@@daddydeadbones I bought some super sculpey a long time ago. years ago and made a fake biscuit and painted it. You literally could not tell it was not real from about 1 foot away. hahaha But that was easy to make. I made a little banana about 1 inch long and I made it look realistic. Just unbelievably small. Oh, and I made an ape not too long ago but I really only had my fingers (nearly useless cuz I damaged many of the tips so I can't press hard on anything anymore) and like two dental tools. and not much knowledge of any sculpting ideas/techniques. But I thought it might be fun to try again with more tools and some general method instead of haphazard hoping. haha Maybe I'll buy some more tools and paints and fabrics and stuff. thx
