i wish i could have been there...also this is one of my favorite Elliott Smith songs (last christmas eve i was listening to this song on repeat, its like impossible to go into detail, but it was a very heavy and unforgettable night, to say the very least. i am at one with him whenever i listen to this song, but that goes for all of his songs. i love you man.

I really like Elliott in this performance, it seems as though in this concert you can really hear out that although his songs had sad lyrics and feelings in them, what really compells one as a listener is also his friendly, honest and almost childly spirit.

Some people's comments are so ignorant. Yes this song mentions "speed", but that's not the focal point by any means. Either way, this is arguably my favorite song by Elliott, it's #1 most played on my iTunes at least. He has so many amazing songs it's very difficult to choose.

This is one of the best quality recordings of a live Elliott Smith that I've seen. And he isn't struggling with demons or forgetfulness in this video. He just plays the song perfectly.

agreed, Very raw sound. I think it was more to do with him not being able to afford guitars such as Taylors and Martins though. He wasn't a millionaire by any means, especially in the 90s. He was still playing small clubs up until 99

elliott played a lot of really expensive guitars! he had a lot of gibson ES 330s electric guitars (4 or 5 , each costs like 2500€) he also had a Gibson les paul (like 1500€) and he had a gibson acoustic which isnt really cheap too.His Bass and other instruments werent really cheap too. The Yamaha FG-180 in this video was the only cheap guitar he used. I have the same Yamaha as he had. It has a great tone, and its quite loud. Elliott will always be my favourite. He was a brilliant man.

+Andrew Kent just as the other guy said, Elliott had plenty of expensive guitars. He had some vintage Gibson acoustics that were probably very pricy, and some very nice electric guitars. And he wasn't poor by any means. He wasn't filthy rich, but he wasnt poor.
