@sunshine123-r1y2 күн бұрын
The fact that this song is such a beautiful and sad song really goes with the fact that he really knew how to show his emotions out in the open on his sleeve even in the midst of being recorded. It really showed that he was definitely brave enough to sing even when he was sad. I don’t think a lot of musicians don’t really do that these days, so Elliott was really sincere about that aspect. You can clearly see the sadness in his eyes when he played this. He had those kind of eyes. He was like a lost puppy:( Man I wish that I could’ve scooped him up and wrapped him in a warm blanket.

His facial expressions throughout, the side glances and especially those during “XO Mom” as you noted, have always stood out to me and hit me hard, in part because I feel like I myself have made those same expressions and thus know in my own way the emotion behind them. I’m not claiming at all that I know exactly what he’s feeling, just that I have my own idea of what it might be. Childish is a very good word to describe the look he gives there. It’s not meant to be demeaning, not at all. I don’t know how to describe it. It feels like the bruised hope and joy, of a child and resultant pain, on top of already present pain. It’s an expression I feel like I’ve made also thinking of my mom. Maybe I’m totally wrong. It’s not like i can see my own face, beyond catching its expressions in the mirror here and there. But that’s what music is about in part, isn’t it? Recognizing another’s thoughts as much as the musician lets us see and a bit more that (s)he inevitably shows without meaning to, and then seeing our own experiences and emotions within the musician and/or his/her music, while it also produces emotions. If that makes sense. My comments are always too long and likely never read anyway, not that it matters, truly, in no way that does idea offend me (it makes me wonder though why I then write them? I guess just writing in and of itself is a release and relief). Ok

@@a.evelyn5498 Your comment is long because you're writing your honest thoughts as they come up, and these thoughts are relatable and at least 32 people (including myself) felt something while reading it.
