@@johnperkins6550 I've made a playlist as a small way of contributing to the world's continued remembrance of him & as my own small but heartfelt tribute to him: a pianist & person I very deeply respect. I didn't know him & am not yet even very knowledgeable about his work, but I have done what I can. I tend to like best the more reflective, quieter pieces, but I tried to include a bit of a mixture. If you or others here would like to hear it, you are most welcome. It's called "Ellis Marsalis Jr. - master of jazz piano! A fan's list". Thanks.

Ellis, absolute champion of the art. He gave everything. Vivid memories doing a masterclass with him back in the 90s, very impactful to be that close to a living legend, RIP mate ❤

Been listening to "Twelve's It" since Ellis Marsalis' and his astonishing drummer James Black's days at Lu and Charlie's On Rampart Street. A golden era.

The former Marine put it this way to NPR in 1985: "There is no such thing as fair. The world's not fair, it's not about being fair." No, it's not fair. Just awful. RIP.
