Ellsworth Kelly has started painting quite a few years before Warhol - and in that style way before critics got bored of Abstract Expressionism, so if you think he's just an opportunist, you certainly have read almost nothing about him. Playing with color relationships is what he loves to do and so do people like me. I really find him appealing and I never deeply understood why some people are so tightfisted against abstract art - besides money and museum exposure, that is.

And yes, even I do find way exaggerated the prices American abstract and pop artists get at Christie's auctions and so on. People are outraged each time a Pollock or a Barnett Newman hits another record 'cause they haven't figured out how art market works. I simply like browsing through the auction listings and see lots of paintings that I couldn't get to see in museums.
