Great play. Carroll was rounding third base around the time Cruz was making his turn to throw. A baseball is always faster than a runner. You’d have to think about holding Carroll but he’s so fast as well.
@user-cz7bu5qk8w9 ай бұрын
He would've scored on most players but they forgot. That throw is like 10 to 20% faster than normal with solid accuracy. But with two outs it's a good send.
@ThePatrickakes9 ай бұрын
@@user-cz7bu5qk8w great observation. Considering the throw was no less than 155 feet (how far it is from home to the edge of the dirt through second base) that 10 to 20% difference in speed equates to at least 3 -4 feet not covered by the runner. Maybe more considering the speed of the base runner in this instance.

That throw was actually better when you see it rather than just hear it. The catcher naturally believed the ball would come to home plate so that's where he stood. Elle has a bazooka. He threw the ball not to home plate but to where the runner would be, which meant the catcher had to move off home plate and toward the runner. So the ball, the runner, and the catcher met at the same spot, a full 10 feet before home plate. That's what you can do when you have a 100mph arm.
