5:49 this 8 axle Tipper trailer is very interesting. In Europe there are 2 and 3 axle tipper trailers, in switzerland and the netherlands they use 5 axle solo trucks, but you don‘t see that many axles on a trailer unless it‘s a large flatbed trailer...
@TeamElmers
@TeamElmers 4 жыл бұрын
The State of Michigan allows up to 11 axles with no special permit. Basic weight formula is if an axle has at least a 9 foot spread from center of the axle to the center of the next axle in front and behind it you have gross 18,000lbs on the axle, are allowed 1 set of Tandem axles with a 9’ spread in front and behind it at 16, 000 lbs per axle of the tandem, all other axles that have less than 9’ spread are allowed to have 13,000 lbs per axle gross. That is how we come up with the 8 axle Live Bottoms gross weight of 154,000 lbs. A Super Train because of the spread axles on the pup is allowed 164,000 lbs gross weight.

It's not something most people think about, but I became acutely aware of it when my city started doing saw-cut joints in all of their new sidewalks (I don't know if it was a new requirement, but they suddenly started appearing everywhere). Riding a bike over wet-formed control joints feels like driving a car on Michigan freeways: very bumpy. I'm sure people who push baby strollers and shopping trolleys over bumpy sidewalks feel the same way. (I don't make a habit of riding my bike on sidewalks, but sometimes it's necessary.)

It’s interesting to see the people with businesses right along the route in acceptance with the road construction. Considering the fact, that most of the time, road construction is very detrimental to the businesses that are directly effected by the road work. You have some businesses that have their main access/entrance that is only accessible from the road that is completely being reworked. Usually, if it is their ONLY entrance then the construction crew is obligated to build them a new temporary access but usually it is off to the side and/or hard to get to and that will deter enough customers to shut down most small businesses. Now, if it were Wal-Mart or something that is really big and people just have to have then it may stay afloat but it’s not very promising for most.

@tonyawildfong2695
@tonyawildfong2695 6 ай бұрын
Hi Joop, Sand on the road is stockpiled to be used for backfill on the site. Sometimes you work with the space you have and need to stockpile on site to assist the trucks. Or if you are talking about backfilling, pipe placement, filling again, and another pipe placement, It may be because the Wastewater sewer pipe and the water pipe are placed on different levels/depths in the trench. Wasterwater is lower than the water line with a minimum distance between the two lines required. That could be the answer for the different sand backfills. Or it may be different sections of the road. Not sure which clip you are referring to. Hope that helps. Thanks for your observations. And the bike path is shared outside the road - it is double wide for pedestrian section and a bicycle section in the new construction area.

Nice! However, anyone watching this and does not see how there were so many unnecessary moving parts and digging… and how wasteful, time consuming and expensive this was… should pay extra tax dollars for this. A simple repaving, physical barrier for bikes and redoing the sidewalks would have saved sooo much money. A simple curb would have been safer as well to separate the street from the bike lanes all while creating a buffer. 🤦🏾‍♂️
@TeamElmers
@TeamElmers 2 күн бұрын
@octaviouscollins4523 Agree to the sensible approach and responsible use of tax dollars. The people adding homes with no water pressure available would lovingly disagree about just paving the road. Sometimes roads need to be reconstructed due to their surface condition. Other times upgrading 50 - 80 year old underground pipes is needed to allow for growth in the area (and future growth). This reconstruction includes upgrading size and capacity of water, storm, and wastewater pipes, installing safer or more environmentally friendly systems, and safe operation of water, storm, and wastewater systems for years to come.

In my country, every step of work would be made by different companies, every company would work with thirty something years old east-german, or russian machines, and with skinny gypsies, with lack of safety equipment. Because of these previous reasons, this amount of work would last about three years, and one year after they done it, they would start to dig up again because "oops, we forgot the pipes" 🤨😡😡😤😤😠😠🤬
