People romanticising antisocial behaviour and standoffish elitist approaches to human interactions as signs of great intelligence is kind of sad. It’s good to treat others with kindness and attentiveness.

This is how I feel about myself, too. Sometimes I think it is a self fulfilling prophecy at a certain point. You worry about your inability to communicate and it disables you in the moment. I have been trying to go a little easier on myself and try to focus on asking questions that allow people to talk about themselves and then I try to just listen, maybe ask specific questions for clarity or to allow them to elaborate further. @@cm9241 Idk I think most of us who are awkward at socializing get _particularly_ hurt by small talk though because talking overall is painful, but when you can’t even be deeply distracted by the subject, you then become even more anxious on what you’re suppose to talk, how you’re gonna talk, what someone is thinking about you right now, instead of only focusing on the conversation - that the cooler it is the more you forget you loathe to be there. Saying that this is a huge problem, not something to brag about indeed (wich I doubt many do it because they think is genuinely cool but because they’re insecure and want others to think they’re not as uncool - or even make someone as uncomfortable as them)

He is a sort of accomplished man that is the dream partner in the eyes of some women, he chooses the best women out of the best (nice character smart elegant proffesionally accomplished famous beautiful educated aso) but is capable of emotionally detaching from the relationship at the speed of light. So MAYBE these women didn't even get the chance of even realizing what happened when the relationship ended or why and are still aching. I have a sense that he is an all accomplished person that falls deeply in love and quickly out of love and he has amazing resources to move on and mind what is so much more important in life than looong life long romantic relationships that need constant effort and emphathy and generosity and kindness and self sacrifice to last, most important things which are his dreams, his succes and his children. It's as if a woman just got the so called best man only to see him vanish just like sand falling through your fingers, never behaving like other men who try at least to invest some sort of efforts to make things better, but he is ok to just not waste his energy and move on. Am i making sense, is there any truth in what i just said, or is it my imagination gone too far?!?! If the people involved in the conversation can both reign in their egos and make the conversation entertaining for eachother then small talk is fun

I think too many people here are misconstruing an aversion to dishonesty as a hatred of small talk. Small talk is important, healthy and incredibly useful. But, sometimes, people will try to engage you in small talk for totally dishonest reasons - not because they care. Either because they are trying to 'test' you, or just want to be seen talking to you. It's the disingenuous tendencies that people like this bring with small talk that's the issue. A person who truly hates small talk will be incapable of communicating with children, for instance. Because, that's literally all children do. I doubt that Elon is one of those, since he has kids of his own. This guy is a billionaire who actually makes crude jokes on Twitter, tries weed on a Joe Rogan show, and hangs out with HipHop artists. And he hates small talk????????

Being unable to genuinely socialize is not a causation of high intellect...it's simply a correlation that exists sometimes. Tragic that people like Elon Musk (especially since he's a business owner who manages people) have chosen to remain that way and believing it's simply a sign that they're better than everyone else. Social skills can be improved if you want them to be. In today's world of disconnection and superficiality, being able to truly connect with people is a superpower.

He's real...Being that big you dont have a choice because of so many people wanting to hear what you have to say.. Im sure he has ignored plenty of people..from nothing to everything thats alot but it's a blessing it all will balance out eventually

what's wrong with Grimes?? It saddens me that so many know her only as Elons ex. She's a legit artist, just as she was years before she got involved with Musk

I've always liked Grimes. She had a career before musk and has some cool interests. I'd be friends or at least have a good conversation with her even if she didn't know Elon.

Eh... you probably will not care. Nevertheless, Grimes seems genuinely intelligent and nice. She's f*cking weird, but I saw her in an interview with a guy that looks like the Arctic Monkeys singer and she was very, very cool. Everything she said were straight up facts. So no need to insult her. The amazing thing is how they both ended up married to someone like him, who seems... eh, overhyped.

The fact that he feels he doesn't have to try to be polite is rude. Unkind. And they can be the bore.

This is his ex wife who married him because he was rich. She is not the best judge of character. If everyones ex was right about them, then they either a) are just as bad because they married them or b) are wrong about them and thats why they divorced.
