Still, though, I find it important to try and remain positive during situations like this-doomerism is neither a healthy ideology nor a helpful one. As someone who lives in Scandinavia here are some of the benefits you get from being in this system, i can not speak for all countries involved but they're pretty similar. Free school (obligatory, in highschool you might have to pay for lunch and the same goes for what I'd call collage but uni is free), free meals in school (until highschool and sometimes highschool), free dental and healthcare until your early 20s as well as "high cost insurance" on these things as well as most common prescribed medications, vacations and limits to how much you can legally work (this all varies a bit but yeah), unions that are hard to bust bc there's a long history of it and a bunch of other things too. I'm just a normal person from a family who's finances have fluctuated throughout my upbringing and things aren't perfect but I'd say it's nicer than living in the US, this security is something almost nobody would give up willingly. We do have high taxes (I don't know the differences between us and the US, it's like 28-30% in my specific region I think) but that kinda comes around and you benefit from it in the long run. Not to say that things aren't corrupt, where there's power and massive amounts of money there will always be corruption and politicians are the same no matter where you are but overall it's fine. Always strive for better though, things can always be better.

The bit at the end about taking criticism of capitalism personally - that was so good. I recognise this everywhere.
@ChristopherSadlowski Жыл бұрын
That's probably because we tie so much of our self worth to what we feel we "contribute" to the capitalist machine. When your sense of value just as a human being is directly connected to your work, any critique of that system feels like an attack on your personhood. That's one reason why capitalism is so difficult to even chip away at. It sets itself up, and burrows so far in, that it practically forces everyone to accept it as one and only way of doing anything. The people at the top have slowly designed it this way; why do or say anything to jeopardize the flow of extreme wealth into your bank? The sad thing is it's become more like a game for them, they don't actually do anything with that money because the thrill is just seeing how much of a high score you can get. It's also why they see people more as numbers than, you know, people. Do most people really care about the "lives" of the NPCs in video games? No. They're just there as set dressing or a place to sell your loot at. When everything is flattened down to numbers on a spreadsheet you stop seeing what's actually behind those numbers, and at a certain point you're so desensitized that everything just becomes meaningless numbers. Giant numbers at that, numbers so large the human brain has trouble even conceptualizing how big they really are.

HydraPak was the sole contractor NASA used in the manufacture of the space shuttle O-rings.” “In all honesty, NASA was clearly at fault here. The launch should never have gone ahead in such conditions. It’s also not necessarily fair to blame the manufacturer of the O-rings for not testing them in extremely cold conditions. It’s highly possible that those O-rings were built using the religious equivalent of slave labor. It’s just an interesting and intensely sad corner of history, one where two groups of people on the absolute opposite ends of the American spectrum - fundamentalist cult adherents and literal rocket scientists attempting to launch a teacher into space - intersected to bring us one of the greatest tragedies of the 20th century.”

As a person who's logged over 100k miles using Comma AI's Openpilot system, stage 2-3 was never meant to be a robot chauffer, it's just a better cruise control. All cars are deadly even at slow speeds, but trusting brand new technology to ALWAYS steer you, is reckless. Great Video.

Honestly, how is Ro so good at what she everything shown on her channel? Her music is amazing, her videos are such a wonderful, amazing, thought-provoking twist on the genre she's said she was inspired by, her acting in this is so good and genuine and the fights in this video remind me of real fights I've had with people before, her jokes are some of my favorites around and always make me laugh, her graphic design is beautiful and dream-like with hints of vaporwave at times, I genuinely want to learn how she creates the things she does; she just doesn't miss.

49:51 Loved this video. That ending was *chef's kiss* after the humor and build up. Hard hitting writing. I mentally added that Elons backround with wealth is part of how he even got there. The way I put it is: Don't measure a country's prosperity by how successful a rare few can be, but by how low quality a citizen's life can become. And how they affect the quality of life of non-citizens.

One more thing about electric cars and buses VS trains: trains don't have to change tires every few months because they have metal wheels, and one tire change produces 32kg of CO2.
@georgeandrews1394 Жыл бұрын
I'm in favour of public transportation. However, I'm not sure on that argument? For one, there are a lot of places that don't get snow and ice or get so little that they don't need to swap tires. For two, how does changing tires produce 32 kg of CO2? I get there's a cost to driving the car to the mechanic and many people can't do it at home, but then that's not much more than driving to another equally distant location. Unless you're talking about busses and the like having reduced lifespan on their tires due to constant wear and tear.
@merty5713 Жыл бұрын
@@georgeandrews1394 Tires must be produced first, and the CO2 is released during production. I was specifically talking about electric buses, which have 6 tires, so it is 192 kg CO2 for each bus. As you said, they are always on the road so they need frequent change. Also, electric busses use lithium batteries: mining lithium eliminates the wild habitat in South America, you have fresh air in the US at the expense of wild life in South America. It is not a viable green solution, it is eco-colonialism.

WHO'S CHANGING THEIR TIRES EVERY FEW MONTHS???? LMFAO, THOSE THINGS LAST SO MANY YEARS. HOW DO YOU MANAGE TO DESTROY THEM SO QUICKLY??? THATS SO FUCKING FUNNY HOLY SHITTTT

As a non native speaker your videos are perfect for when I'm awake and want to scratch the "long-form complex but funny video" brain itch and perfect for when I'm slightly insomniac and need something that at a lower volume seems to be just nonsense with a consistent and lullaby like tone

At around t = 1:25 in the video, I perform a sniff check of my underarms and realise that I smell... what was genuinely frightening, was that this sniff check was immediately followed by Ro asking, "do you smell?" Honestly, I had to pause the video to reclaim my grip on reality, as for a moment, I thought Ro had caught me smelling my pits through the computer.

If I could just inflate your ego for a moment... I honestly think you're one of the funniest creators on this platform, your weird little asides and constant stream of jokes kills me and I find myself chuckling near the entire length of the video. You and CJ the X have a very similar style of content and I'm laser focused for the whole runtime every time you put out a new video. You're doing a great job and I'm looking forward to your future work!

I'm a new subscriber of yours. Love to see "younger people" like yourself out here with fantastic and astute analysis (I cringed inside as I said younger people. I'm a millenial. I'm 29. Lmfao I'm not you anymore and it's wild) as well as some HILARIOUS candor. Your jokes don't make me laugh "haha" of course, like most dry humor they just give me a deep jubilance. I'm just momentarily giddy. It's a welcome reprieve from everything else we are feeling right now. As another gender non-conforming young-ish person under the trans umbrella, I salute your ability to hold your own out here. Took so many of us years to get to that point of unapologetic presentation. That's not just a creator skill, that's a lifelong achievement that so many of us don't reach. Keep it up. Don't stop being you. You're appreciated! 🎉

building electric cars and updating/switching batteries every 10 years is plenty toxic to the environment, more so than some gas cars and ethanol or biogas would be an even better solution to electric cars. Some municipals in Sweden run their public transport on biogas. So from that perspective Testa sucks just as much
