Elon Musk's DOGE entered NOAA headquarters, sources say

Employees from the White House's Department of Government Efficiency have entered the Office of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, or NOAA. CBS News environmental correspondent David Schechter reports on what NOAA does and what this move means.

Every commercial site relies on the NWS for warnings and risk models. Most of their models and predictions are based on NOAA data they input into them. Do you actually think the weather channel has people stationed around the country launching weather balloons and taking atmospheric readings? I have yet to see a private weather report based on a privately owned aircraft flown into a hurricane. Those things are too costly, dangerous and mundane for the price services. But you don't know anything about how weather is predicted, you just know somebody on TV talks at your face, or maybe an app feeds you dumbed down information to make you think your smart.....🤦‍♂️

I like NOAA and I subscribe to their data feeds. They live in the Stone Age as in 1970 technology. Millions of companies depend on their data. Their systems are so outdated that the data processing costs are multiplied by millions of companies. When we think of ourselves as a country, NOAA needs to improve its systems to minimize combined waste (network bandwidth, energy consumption, time to process).

2025, what a weak excuse for repetitive positions of the same job, and then, what get the forecasts right less than 50 % of the time? Plus, most work is computer forecast ( 3 computermodels they pick from ), and then they determine their forecast ( more of a guess sometimes not even correct on ( 24 HOUR !) Forcast ) they will give the evening before.
