I love RTJ, but they never flex this hard or weird. RIP Def Jux - this record was kinda definitive for a certain period of my life. I miss experimental El-P.

Most probably the influence of Omar and Cedric on this track

@Zachary Martinez I'd say "a few words for the firing squad" is close to this level, or not on a whole other level

It was nice to see the Josh Homme colab on the last album, RTJ 1 is still my fave but 4 is so fucking good. Still, i must agree, I miss El's solo shit.
@fyutweraz220011 ай бұрын
Yeah agreed it's like sometimes I can't even understand what he's saying and then other times he's speaking directly to my soul. And beyond that the beats are made of mostly abrasive sounds that have no business in a classic hip hop track twisted into a beautiful melody and its truly breath taking. Plus I'm one of the kids worrying about the apocalypse or mabey just my own end in this world. Either way this music hits my soul in ways I just can't explain. Underrated as fuck but still recogn8zed as a juggernaut in rap and a top five producer anyway.

No doubt! El-P is best to Us Solo. Undoubtedly. Them's the facts. Misery breeds classic records Yo! MTV radio stars.

The stogie he brazenly lit where he sit looked legit But when the flame touched to the tip I could smell it's of another nit He leaned his head back and inhaled the newpie dip and said "The whole design got my mind cryin', if I'm lyin' I'm dyin'..shit"

A masterpiece of music from what is becoming my favourite ever hip hop EVERYTHING. The flows, the key changes, the use of piano and wind instruments. He is a fucking genius... The pace at which this ramps up through the crazy piano/laughter is perfection. Man...

Man.....I'll be 35 in July and I can only kinda describe the feeling in my soul when I'm bumping this with the headphones...at work or at home I'm 13 again everywhere we grew up just roaming, learning, riding, smoking, building, even though I didn't know it was called that then...thank you for letting me time travel with my imagination and with you as my anchor..along with your brother in life Mr. Render you are helping me everyday be better than I was yesterday, if only by a little. Hopefully I'll see you somewhere with rage and fuck that's bucket list but I've been disappearing in the smoke like a fuckin magician..everyone out here in the matrix stay safe stay growing

Lyrics: “Donna Hayward: ‘Do you think that if you were falling in space That you would slow down after a while Or go faster and faster?’ Laura Palmer: ‘Faster and faster For a long time you wouldn't feel anything Then you would burst into fire forever And the angels wouldn't help you, 'cause they've all gone away’ (Uno, dos, uno, dos, tres, quatro) (I seen this kid walking down the street I was like, ‘Wait!’) Bumped into this kid I knew, he often had walked strange So I ignored the blood on his laces so this cat could save face The dunks and the gaze stayed in an off gray haze And the lump in his pocket talked to the ox that he clutched safe So I saluted him there, waiting for the A Trapped on the empty platform without the option to escape Gave him the standard, ‘Yo, what up man, how you landin'?’ And the hypnotized response was no surprise: `I maintain` ‘Yeah, we all do, that's the standardized refrain, but on some Really real man, good to see you, really, what the dealy deal?’ Oops, fuck, screwed the pooch, asked too much, knew the truth On the train now, in caboose, in his brain now, no recluse 80 blocks to uptown spot, destination: vocal booth Metro-card like, ‘You get what you pay for, stupid, no excuse’ He pulled his hoody off his cabbage rugged practical And began to fancy the words I mistakenly jostled loose The stogie he brazenly lit where he sit looked legit But when the flame touched on the tip, I could smell it's of another nit He leaned his head back and inhaled the newpie dip and said, ‘The whole design got my mind cryin'; if I'm lyin', I'm dyin', shit!’ This is the sound of what you don't know, killing you This is the sound of what you don't believe, still true This is the sound of what you don't want, still in you TPC, motherfucker, cop a feel or two This is the sound of what you don't know, killing you This is the sound of what you don't believe, still true This is the sound of what you don't want, still in you TPC, motherfucker, cop a feel or two (The whole design got my mind cryin' The whole design got my mind cryin') ‘The whole design got my mind cryin’; if I'm lyin' I'm dyin' If I’m dyin', I'm flyin' - the same line - no disguise, guy, I'm bent up Know the sky's high by coincidence and I'm tied blind insignificant To the ground function, I'm Munsoned, it's the dreaded 7/10 split again The medic made it out to be, epidemic shaded, wow for me Evidence of pressures mounting, residential shroud, King's County Brotherhood of the working wounded, wounded working city unit Taking out the trash and strappin' in, let's get it movin', stupid Many men make moves more useless Use abuse quick, losers, juiceless Bitch, either speak the truth or you leave toothless Two fists of the furiously ruthless Justice for my very own amusement with no regard for the conclusion I swagger with rats tappin' the glass in a Gov. lab Pass me the gloves, mask and flask of the cheapest liquor you have In the back of the Tasmanian path, insane again, laughin' Cacklin' at the randomness of the city and all its facts The dark art of interrogation agent skippin' class And at last, in a flash on my tip toes walkin' on cracked glass Gats blast and wiz by fast, or just catch in my calves like, hold that In other words, I'm trash, glad you asked' This is the sound of what you don't know, killing you This is the sound of what you don't believe, still true This is the sound of what you don't want, still in you TPC motherfucker, cop a feel or two This is the sound of what you don't know, killing you This is the sound of what you don't believe, still true This is the sound of what you don't want, still in you TPC motherfucker, cop a feel or two Your future's uncertain here now The plot smears on the wall, wall Said, your future's uncertain here now The plot smears on the wall Your future's uncertain here now The plot smears on the wall, wall Said, your future's uncertain here now The plot smears on the wall Your future's uncertain here now The plot smears on the wall, wall Said, your future's uncertain here now The plot smears on the wall”

Yoo did El have to pay for all the samples he uses or was it all just kinda fair game back in the day? I'm always afraid of uploading my shit, I feel like its a different era. What's the dealy deal?
@ehill15363 жыл бұрын
Depends, certain samples can be paid for beforehand, others free in creative license. Else, direct contact with the owners of sampled work (royalties) may be needed to avoid a lawsuit. Fun fact I found out while looking into this: Dr. Dre sampled Labi Siffre: "I Got The..." and gave all royalties to Labi. The single helped launch Em and Dre's careers to now hall of fame status.

Where is the fuckin Mars Volta - The Widow remix El. The people want it, El.
Ok here is my stupid question of the day? Might even border on conspiracy theory but it's one of those nagging thoughts I can't shut up. Ok is the plot of this based on true events with embellishments of fiction ? Does anyone know or even have any idea what I'm asking about? Lmfao
