Check out the music of the late Owain Phyfe! He sang this song and many more - a troubadour well known and loved in the renaissance faire circles for many years. I’ve lately become an Elthin fan myself! A great group of musicians - wish I could hear them live!

Troubadours were occitan singers / poets / musicians, so in the south of France. Guillaume de Machaut was from the North of France and therefore sung in "old french" so he would have been a Trouvère had he lived at the time of the toubadours and trouvères, a century before his time.

Pour une fois, l’algorithme de KZbin fait bien les choses. Je vous découvre et je dois dire que vos interprétations de cette musique médiévale est tout à fait agréable. Vous savez combiner ce qui fait la tradition de la musique venue de si loin avec des éléments plus modernes, soit dans les rythmes, les instruments ou les morceaux choisis (coucou Fort Boyard !) . On sent dans votre interprétation un respect pour ceux qui ont composé cette musique il y a 700 ou 800 ans ! Si vous passez en France, je viendrai volontiers vous applaudir ! Blahopřejeme !

Machaut has been my favorite composer since I discovered him when I was 16, in 1970. Back then, fewer people outside of of the "classical" music world knew about him.

@@Elthinmusic while this may be true, your version has a languid tone that other versions lack, and it conveys the man's despair so strongly it's palpable. Also, your voice is wonderful... Perhaps you could do an updated version some time, if you haven't already, with the correct instruments? But this sounds perfect to me 😉

Je suis prof de français et j'ai étudié le poème avec mes 5e puis leur ai fait écouter une mise en musique (celle d'Annwn). Ils ont un peu ricané au début mais la musique leur a quand même fait de l'effet ! :D Prochain objectif : le refaire avec des 2ndes si j'en ai héhé

La plus jolie interprétation que j'ai entendue de cette chanson, ( je la joue et chante aussi 😉 ) . I agree, this male voice sounds great. And let's face it, this song should only be sung by males as it was directed to a lady. So to some extent it does not make much sense for a woman to sing it. As nice as it may sound, it was not intended to be sung by a female. A bard at that time was always a man.
