According to Steve Terreberry, U2 is hated because they are rioting on the SAME songs for decades and that they never release anything new or interesting even when they released their Songs Of Experience in 2017. They ARE a great band, though. Edge is gewd guitarist, but unfortunately, I also heard that there are Bono haters as well, despite Bono’s charity work. Oh yeah, in case you’re wondering, I like U2.😊

Yeah as a big u2 fan its obvious that if an artist gets involved in charity work such as bono lennon chris martin it becomes cool to dislike them in some quarters. Rolling stone has u2 as the 5th best band ever so thats a good indicator of how good they are

This song while yes a tender longing, but with the propelling upwards music it always lifts me transports me to a time of divine reunion, like lift off in the Beautiful Day video into the stars the blessings of having a mother we love so, a celebration of her life and yours, from her. It helps me imagine the over the rainbow time I will be released to be free and feel my mother again. I pray this feeling of faith and hope for all.☮️

What a long life's journey for him without Iris physically present, from "Out of Control" to "Iris..." The humility of the kneeling is deeply moving. I heard Bono say in an interview that he CANNOT sing U2s songs without TRULY GETTING INTO THEM each time. A great gift for every audience.

I lost my dog a week before this was mysteriously pushed out to everyone’s iPhone. I knew immediately it was a sign when it came over my radio for absolutely no reason for this to be playing as soon as I plugged in my phone and I had no idea this was pushed out to everybody. My next dog was a reincarnation and I had to name her Iris

I lost my mom in 2004 out of the blue. Who'd thought MOFO would be the song I liked the most when it came out in 1997 but it got completely different meaning after. Now I can easily cry like a child on certain verses. Iris is similar, though deals with a grief in a different way, with more acceptance. Mofo was a more direct despair and shouting loud at the sky.

Sometimes bands write songs will double meaning...I know the lyrics lineup with his mother and childhood home and more....but this album also came out about the time Apple was in it's hay day of being a tech creative genius giant. Then they had the little mishap when this album was mistakenly placed on everyone's iPhone with their latest OS release. 'Iris'in reverse is 'Siri' and there are more than a few lyrics that may line up with the predecessor of all things AI at least from a commercial perspective...Don't shoot me, listen to the lyrics and decide.
