Interesting. I was stationed near Fukuoka 79-80. I saw Kansas, Boston, Foreigner, et al while I was there and that was NOT how the Japanese behaved at a concert. I remember standing at the back of the Auditorium that Boston was playing with an ex-pat, who was also a DJ on a local radio station, by the name of Bill Coronet. The Japanese in attendance stayed seated, applauded at the end of each number throughout the main set. After the main set was over they got up, cheered, applauded, and what-not until the band came back onstage, then they sat back down. I reckon times must of changed and they had become more "Americanized" by the time this concert happened. (Although, I did spot a few gaijin in the crowd.)
