On the earlier part of the European leg of the Reg Strikes Back tour he tried doing the falsetto on Kiss The Bride but he couldn't quite manage it so stopped doing it.

Damn his voice is deeper her than in 1983, but that was probably because of the throat surgery in 1987. His voice became a baritone in the late 80's right around 1988 with reg strikes back. That and being in his 40's

On the Reg Strikes Back tour he sounded rough on lots of shows as he was still doing drugs and growling notes which was burning his voice out. After he got clean his voice became cleaner and much better.

I remember reading that Elton didn't sing this song anymore! I'm not sure if its true or not but I've certainly never seen a live version of it past the eighties! he put in a reasonable performance of it here but coming off the back of watching him sing it in 1984 the high parts are of course absent courtesy of his mid 80's throat op

Not only that he came out gay in 1988 so there would have been no sense in singing it anymore.

@@berryryder9175 Kiss The Bride was specifically written about Elton and Renate's relationship.Rocketman isn't.

@@jaggass Sorry but that's gotta be a bunch of horse shit. Elton met Renate in 1983 when he was finishing up recording the Too Low For Zero album, at which point Kiss The Bride has already been written long before, probably a year or two (or even earlier) [Elton's song can be heard in some live performances in 1979 but it came out on The Fox album in 81] At best you could stretch the narrative that the song simply reminded him of her, that's why he chose to stop doing it. Yet in this performance, he's already post divorce with Renate. So really, the theory just doesn't stick. The more probable reason is that A) Elton couldn't hit the high notes as well as he used to and B) the song wasn't as great a hit as others.

This is professional quality picture wise, is this from a bootleg or unreleased official recording? If someone could fix the audio, it would be great, maybe find a good audio recording of the same show and mix it.
