This is a beautiful juxtaposition to Tumbleweed Connection. Soulful and uplifting, Madman blew my adolescent mind. After listening to it I looked around, wondering if anyone around me shared my religious experience.

The first album I ever memorized from start to finish was The Beatle's "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band"....and the second was "Madman Across The Water" and to this day I STILL PLAY them both from Start To Finish at least once a month! Like A Family Reunion! Cheers Everyone!

He's a musical genius. Kids loved his music when he was huge in the 1970's I should know I was a kid then. We used to listen to EJ records in someone's basement rec room on summer days. He encompasses joy and angst in his music he was totally emo.

I used to pretend to be friends with Elton and Bernie and that I knew them so well. It was like a real relationship that I could talk to them and tell them all my dreams and traumas, or just have fun laughing with them. I was a very lonely, isolated and abused child. I had a hoard of make believe friends and they understood my alternate personalities that helped me through all the battles I had going on. His music actually kept me alive through years of suicidal ideations...to this day.

One of the best albums ever produced! I was in the Army when I purchased this album and my girlfriend had just sent me a "Dear John" letter. A really bad time!

Kind of the worst for me, not to be a bummer, but this album got me through, the power of music. I was 12, my dad died suddenly, and I had this album to help 'process' the feelings. Mom went to church. People don't want to talk about it. Haven't listened to this album in decades so when I heard Levon start up I just started sobbing. Thanks for putting this up.

"How does it feel to know you can't go home?" Like hell. Like death. Thank God my music's still alive to keep my memories alive. And has kept me alive many a time. TY for the upload. Was hoping it was pulled from the vinyl though...nothing can sound as good except possibly reel to reel recordings.
