I really think you hit on something here...I never realized how memorable these intros are. This may be why so many people have heard Elton's songs, and remember them, even if they don't know who Elton is or that the songs they remember are Elton's. I got my niece into his music, and the family took her to see him and the band for her 10th birthday. Her mother and sister insisted they knew almost no Elton songs before...and were blown away by how many of the songs at the concert they already knew.

As a pianist myself, I know how intricate and difficult some of Billy's songs can be, but of course it's a labor of love as I know it is for you:-) Question? Been revisiting some of Bacharach's music with his recent passing, do you like his music? I'm music older than you so he might be before your time? My long range goals in piano music are to play musical sets in tribute to Billy Joel, Brian Wilson, Elton John, Burt Bacharach, Jimmy Webb, with a sprinkle of Beatles and Paul McCartney solo works. If we are going to get pickie here, I would say Tiny Dancer does not have Elton playing such low octaves in the intro. Actually, not doing that and bringing up the left hand a bit will match the intimacy of the original. Otherwise, all good fun.
