I was stood outside when they were shooting this in a house in Burbank. I arrived just as Elton left the house used as the location. But the image that sticks in my head the most is seeing Elizabeth Taylor being pushed outside in her wheelchair and up into a waiting van. Don't remember seeing Miss Moore. Can't really remember the date but it was possibly 2002.

My favourite video of my favourite song from my favourite Elton John LP of the past 40 years. Mandy Moore is absolute pained perfection in this, playing a character who's thoughts & feelings I imagine were very close to what my own mother experienced as a teen, with Elton/Elizabeth Taylor providing the contrasting necessary background here. This is EASILY, one of the most romantic music videos ever produced, and the realism of the sufficating yet familiar mid-70s semiotics is staggering. A true ugly, gorgeous masterpiece.

Me too. This is the first thing I thought when I saw this video is "That's me!". Many of the pictures on my wall were my drawings of him. I was never handed a flower by him, but I went to a concert fully intending to hand him one of the drawings I did of him. Unfortunately, I was intercepted by security who told me if I ran to the stage again, I would be escorted out! I'm 59, a professional artist, and I STILL enjoy drawing Elton and post them on my Instagram. Words are inadequate to describe how he inspires me.

All 43 years of my life, I've been a fan. My mother's influence when I was young. My husband and I never had one of those "this is our song" songs and when we married, we didn't want the same, typical first dance song as everyone else we know. We chose Original Sin because WE knew it, WE love it and we've never heard it played on commercial radio. We got so many compliments about our choice of song, how none of our guests had heard it, but it "fit" our relationship. Now, we have so many lovely and loving memories associated with Original Sin. We are celebrating 20 years this weekend. 💙🌹

One of Elton’s best videos. It pays tribute to not only his career, but this feels like it definitely was made with longtime fans in mind, who will definitely recognize many of the pictures she had on her wall. The picture she gently caresses was from the inside cover of Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy. The only complaint I have is that it cuts off the ending part of the video, where Mandy is asleep and Liz Taylor says to Elton the dad, “She must really like this guy,” to which he responds, “Who is this Elton John?”

Someone might have commented on this before, but the ending of this video (as it ends here, not the omitted original ending some people are talking about) is directly connected to the ending of the video for "This Train Don't Stop," in which Elton, dressed exactly the same, walks onto the stage to start his concert. Some of the same extras are used, including the Liza lookalike.

Beautiful song - by this time Elton had shown us most of his musical vocabulary- this song’s chorus has the same chord changes/and derivative melody (tho totally different mood) as ‘The Last Song’ from The One. So I like this, but I can’t quite make a completely separate place for it in my head. Many heritage artists proceed the same way- some talk about the great classical composers (Beethoven for instance) in this way: writing will tend to reflect generally the stage of life we’re in (adolescence- imitation young maturity- exploration, older maturity- recapitulation, but more refined)
