One day after she passed I went to her house and opened up that old record player. I turned it on. I wandered. What was the last song she cleaned to? Before she got sick and passed away ya know? Tiny dancer. On a 45. I was 16 years old crying like a baby. But now it’s almost 4 years later and this song still gets to me. God damn I love Elton John.

This was my grandmother's favourite song to listen to. I would hear it whenever we would visit her. After a long 3 year battle with cancer, she sadly passed away. Her doctor only gave her 3 months. At her memorial, we played this song when we let her balloons go. But today, I was sitting in the car with my dad, and this song came on. We both just sat in silence. I only realised today that certain songs could hold onto some power without anyone knowing. I'll think about this for the rest of my life.

I cannot remember the last time any Music Video moved me as much as this one does. The song is a musical masterpiece that pairs as well with life in 2017 as it did in 1971. It is truly timeless. Bernie Taupin's lyrics seem to be inspired by the warm, wonderful, marvelously human uniqueness of the people in Los Angeles and this video does a terrific job of paying homage to that. Human spirit is a miraculous thing and it is on full display here. The characters in this video pull me into their lives and I feel a bond with them - the wonderful woman at the pawn shop, the girl with the urn, the addict at the liquor store.....wow, just wow. There are so many stories I would want to know about each of their lives, so many mysteries. (And, oh- if this song is any indication I'd say this Elton John guy is going to be quite a success someday.......)
