This was going to be a part of Madjick's battle, when you face the orbs for awhile. Not Chara. Not Gaster. but madjick, the true hero.

Essentially, this was back when the Core theme didn't play during battles (the regular battle music played there). In a fight with Madjick, chose "Stare", then "Chaser orb", and survive without moving (let the chaser orbs get stuck in an orbit around you). They eventually turn green and now heal you when touched - this also counts as a Spare condition for Madjick. When this occurred, Star would have begun playing instead of Enemy Approaching. However, Toby thought that playing the Core theme over all battles within the Core was more significant and impactful, but couldn't get the transition to Star and back to Core to work, so he cut it, but left Star in the game's music. The healing trick still works though.

Okay so about this song: It was never used when the game was finished. It was supposed to be for madjick where if you’d stare at the orbs long enough, this would play, and they would reduce health, but the core’s theme messed it up. So Toby removed it to cause less trouble. I’ve seen people think that this WAS supposed to play when Flowey would tell the human about his story in New Home, but there was no evidence to support this. However, the biggest theory I’ve seen is this was supposed to be Chara’s theme, there’s is small evidence to support this. The second brightest star in the constellation “Canes Venatici”, is named Chara. Star is also is associated with buttercups and the heart locket. Guys. Star is an unused track it was supposed to play in CORE when you stood by chaser orb Attack enough to make the Attack into hearts that recover health. Star was going to be used for that sadly in glitched with the CORE music so Toby removed it. Though it is in the scratch tracks. Many people believe it was supposed to be Chara’s theme cause Chara is the second brightest star in the constellation “Canes Venatici.” Though the TL;DR Star is associated with Chara in fanon, along with the obvious butter cups and heart locket. I also love this song.

I came here after listening to Star Fox's controls music, because it had the same instruments. I see now why it was called Star. This also makes me think so much on how much the notes/composition along with the instruments are used to create a mood. This track has such a contrast to Star Fox's Controls track and oh my goodness that contrast gives me chills.

This song is only 2 instrument and only 2 melodies, yet it is so powerful. That's why I absolutely love Toby's work. It is able to hit you in a such close way, no other is. Maybe it's due to my history with his game, which as silly as it may be - shaped me as a person, formed my never changed will to help and be kind to people, try to ,,save them" when needed, always try to push forward, don't give up. I remember when I was younger, in very trying for me times I would draw on my hand a small red heart as a reminder to ,, stay determined". This particular song, although never used, was special for me. I remember when I was often at my lowest, in night unable to sleep due to all problems and thoughts pilling up in my head I would play this, often without headphones, in dark. With closed eyes and without even imagining anything I was able to feel comforted by small light of hope I could feel in this simple song. It always led me to my second at the time life, here in the underground with all the monsters who became family to me and locations that felt so absurdly real as if they were a real memory, a real life place where I was and was safe. It's ridiculous to think it is all a game, yet I felt and still feel as if I grew up with these characters not in a sense like with cartoon or book ones, but like real life people, real friends met in young years that supported me and raised me. I'm not sure if I'll be ever able to fully express these feelings, but for now I'll leave with this here.

Almost sounds like a sort of a theme near the end of the true pacifist mode, where Flowey traps your friends. After Asgore tells you to stay determined, the determination star rises up to the sky and all the npcs you save see it and follow it, hence their arrival.

As someone who wants to create an RPG similar to undertale, this song gives me a feel of… well something odd, like a mix between inspiration and sadness. Normally any such song that sounds very calm or isolated like this reminds me of asriel, my favorite character. What I am trying to say is that, I wanna create a story like undertale, but creating something unique but like undertale is real hard, especially when undertale is so diverse, it’s hard to stand out from it if the game already stands out so much. I have some headcanons. 1. This was supposed to be a post-boss theme, kind of like "Your Sanctuary" from Earthbound. I say this because it's happy and peaceful enough to make you feel nice when you SPARE a boss, and just melancholic enough to make you feel guilty if you killed someone. 2. This was going to play when you walk along the stretch in Waterfall with Asgore's castle visible. 3. There was going to be a room somewhere in Waterfall where this would play besides that stretch of land. 4. This was set to play once you could SPARE an Amalgamate, like Endogeny's Dogsong. Maybe Snowdrake's mother. The theme sounds vaguely wintery, and it gives off a sort of hope. 5. This was going to play at the shattered Barrier or in the room where you wake up after the Asriel fight.

To me, this song is about the fallen children, all of them, each one naive and vulnerable put into a position where they get to dramatically change the underground and be changed by it. In a way though it's also all of us. Dropped into this world without a clear guide we make so many choices without realizing the full ramifications of our actions. The consequences of our lives are something we can't predict. It's beautiful and disturbing kind of like this track.
