I have to say the following: I have never, ever been a fan of Elvis impersonators, I found them sad, crass fantasists who just want to be Elvis for a bit. When I saw Ben Portsmouth, for a moment I almost believed he was Elvis; he was that good. He has worked hard on the mannerisms, the vocal style is still a bit of a caricature for my taste, but it is still good. And by nature and a little help, he happens to look like Elvis and be able to sing. All those things combined make him the best Elvis impersonator I have ever seen. Well done to Ben for changing my view on impersonators. He is playing near me, Chepstow Castle in Wales, on August 27, just one week after the Elvis 40th Anniversary celebrations in Memphis. x

Ben is too good to be classified as an Elvis impersonator. He is a true talent who should consider doing new material (in the style that Elvis would have done it). He has managed to mirror more than the voice and mannerisms of the original. Ben has captured the "Essence of Elvis." He is actually a "channeler." Footage of him in profile is virtually indistinguishable from the real deal. I would love to see him perform as Ben someday.
