My favourite Rory song. A beautiful introduction leads into a wonderfully sad, lost love, song. Rory was a marvellous performer on stage. He always gave everything for the fans. Saw Gerry in London earlier this year and his band perform Rory’s songs with respect, grace and dignity. I want this song played at my funeral. Hopefully a few years yet as I would like to listen to Rory many more times.

You know music fans, what makes Costello as powerful as he is, is the ambiguity of some of his lyrics. Try as we might, we can't all agree on what he means, IMHO. Each listener has a perfect right to his interpretation without being abused as a troll, or a dimwit for that matter!.

The very first MTV Unplugged featured The Smithereens and Graham Parker. Graham Parker was Elvis' "Pub Rock" rival at first. Now Elvis is the Dostoyevsky to Graham's Turgenev. I"m sure there's no greater song that's ever been played in a Rock Hall induction. The band has more sensibility than a 30 piece symphony.
