Elvis and his band are a very underrated act. These guys were rocking socks on this night.

Underrated by who? Not by anyone who ACTUALLY knows about music. I mean seriously. It's such a stupid term. What's next? Sting is a very underrated songwriter?

That was a different guitar. The one he's playing here is a Fender Jaguar. I think he got the Jazzmaster later, or maybe he just used that for different songs.

You can see that jaguar that Elvis is playing has been modified to have a 3rd, middle position pickup, which is kind-of interesting. Hard to tell from the low-res video if it's actually a jaguar or strat-like pickup or even a humbucker (maybe all the pickups were swapped out in addition to adding the middle pickup). I wonder what the story behind that extra pickup is.
@aicdbckmkemcm5 жыл бұрын
Looks like a strat pickup to me
@patmarsden28403 жыл бұрын
@@aicdbckmkemcm agreed. Hand wound Texas Special?
@danielstoddart2 жыл бұрын
It wasn't modified. It's a Fender Jaguar, which came stock with three single coil pickups. You're probably thinking of his Fender Jazzmaster, which he got later and has two larger pickups but doesn't have one in the middle. That's the one that he had his name custom inlaid into the fretboard.
@pseudonomous2 жыл бұрын
@@danielstoddart Vintage Jaguars never came with 3 pickups. You may be thinking of the Bass VI, which did have 3 pickups and aesthetically looked like a cross between a Jaguar, a Jazz.Bass and just a hint of Stratocaster. But this is clearly a modified Fender Jaguar Elvis is playing in the video.
@danielstoddart2 жыл бұрын
@@pseudonomous Yes, it's definitely a Jaguar. You can clearly see the upper bought control plate which is different than the Jazzmaster pickguard.
