That's just Dawes backing them up. Not Middle Brother.

The Middle Brother set was right before Elvis' and the rest of Dawes also backed them up, so Elvis was a bit confused.

FYI, if you listen to the NPR stream of EC's set, he clearly introduces them as “The Middle Brother.” Just saying. There are plenty of videos of the Middle Brother Newport set where you can see it's the same guys.

Middle Brother is not the same as Dawes, just "related." Middle Brother is Taylor Goldsmith (Dawes), John McCauley (Deer Tick), and Matt Vasquez (Delta Spirit). Dawes is Taylor Goldsmith, Griffin Goldsmith, Wylie Gerber, and Lee Pardini. Elvis clearly made a mistake; he should have known after the "New Basement Tapes" project - but we forgive him. :-)

What she said. The confusion lies in the fact that the rest of Dawes also served as Middle Brothers backing band.
