I was so lucky to see Elvis November 10, 1971 at Boston Garden! Spectacular! I was 25, loved him since I was 9, heard his voice first, loved it, and when I saw pictures of him, well, I was hooked, and as I followed his career, he could still amaze me with his powerful, beautiful, one of a kind, VOICE!! I still shake my head when I listen to him!! The King Of Music! Always and Forever 💗💗💗🕺🎶🎚

One of my absolute favourite Songs of him! I really see it like you, the song is (as many others) very much underrated... his voice is so strong, so beautiful! The sound and his voice is constantly "building up".. just wonderful.. listen to the Outtakes is a gem because, as you told it, he needs quite a bit to find the right "way" to "deliver" the song how he wanted it to.. I just love this song and I thank you for this video, as always!!

In these days of auto-tune and music being created on a laptop, rather than by musicians in a studio, Elvis performances like this is the very antithesis to all of that. This is what it's all about when you says that music is an art form that has to move you.

I remember Jim Nabors singing this weekly as his closing song on his variety show in 1970 (yeah I'm old). Never heard it again until about 5 years ago when the Elvis channel played it and was completely blown away. One of my favorites. And yes, Elvis had a hard time with the ending. if you listen to the early takes he was perfect till the end and cracked his voice on the closing.

This song is a favourite of mine !! I've wondered if it was the end note that stopped him from doing it in one of his concerts?
@suspiciousminds1750Ай бұрын
@@christinerathbone8886 I actually read somewhere that the closing note was grafted onto another take, don't know if true but certainly shows how tough that note was to hit at this stage in his life.

With all the singing he was doing its not too surprising his voice broke like that but also I think at this stage he was showing signs of his interest in big operatic finishes but vocally he wasn't quite there yet. I'm usually of the opinion that 1970 was the peak and after that his voice slowly got worse over time but I must admit the operatic stuff is definitely an area his voice improved and kept improving. He was doing the impossible dream on stage as early as 1971 (I think) and it's the same note at the end as this song (I think lol). Take rags to riches 1970 where there's a lot of strain, he pulls it off but he's right on the edge. Compare it to the live version from 1976 though...as an overall singer I still think Elvis was at his best in 1970 but wow...that 76 performance is incredible. His voice soaring, no strain and somehow making it all sound easy.

Yes David that was a powerful performance on a good song. But I do wish once he had tried that song live. And if his voice did crack at the end. A least the group and his orchestra could have covered it up with a big build up at the end.

Very sad, when you look at how FAST Elvis went downhill from the point of his ‘68 TV Special when he was in peak form. You could just hear how he changed a little from one year to the next, ever-so-gradually losing his robust spirit and mostly, his energy. By 1973 he was not even a “Rock” singer anymore, having switched over to Country as his voice deepened with every subsequent album released after “From Elvis In Memphis” in 1969. By late 1973, he sounded like an opera singer! To fast-forward, compare the ‘68 TV Special to just 9 years later, “Elvis In Concert”. He had gone downhill faster than any performer EVER. The Colonel over-worked him and all those prescription drugs didn’t help much either.

Dude, you always put up deceptive videos as clickbait. I knew immediately that the audio was from the recording studio, and that you were deceptively putting up a TTWII clip to draw people in. The video looks like he's singing "I Can't Stop Loving You." Then you deliver nothing.
@ElvisistheMan_Ай бұрын

@@ElvisistheMan_ So the clip you play at 1:15 --- the audio is from a studio recording, it is not a live rehearsal recording from "That's The Way It Is." Yet the video clearly is video from "That's The Way It Is." Am I correct or not?

@@ElvisistheMan_ No, I didn't watch to the end because I saw that you were overdubbing a studio recording onto a live rehearsal video, and I assumed it was another clickbait game, like the ones you've pulled before.
